Sassy dancing man allegedly throws pipe at officer

SEATTLE -- A sassy dancing man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly hucking a broken pipe at a Seattle Police officer's head from a bush in a downtown courtyard.

According to the Seattle Police Department's report for the incident, a citizen alerted an officer to two people smoking pot in a courtyard at Seventh Avenue and Pine Street around 1:20 p.m.

While the officer interrogated the pot smokers, who were on their lunch break from a nearby business, half of a glass pipe came whizzing past a few feet from the officer's head.

According to the report, witnesses in the courtyard pointed to some bushes from whence emerged a man fluidly dancing.

The man, who kept up his fluid dancing while balancing on a park bench, appeared to be under the influence of narcotics or suffering from some condition.

After several orders, the officer finally convinced the man to have a seat and stop moving. When asked if he threw a pipe at the officer, the man responded, "No. I threw half a pipe at you," according to the report.

Despite his vaudevillian wit, the man was arrested and booked into King County Jail for investigation of unlawful use of a weapon.

In addition to the other half of the glass pipe, officers found a folding knife and brass knuckles with knife edges attached in the man's coat, according to the report.

Unfortunately, the man's reasons for tossing the glass pipe at the officer, as well as what the man thought would happen if the pipe hit the officer, were redacted from the report.
