Seahawks fans cheer the team to victory from home turf

SEATTLE - Some 2,700 miles west of Washington, D.C.'s FedEx Field, the 12th man rallied the Seahawks to a victory from packed homes and bars across Western Washington.
And Sunday's first victorious road game in nearly 30 years brought a lot of pride to the hometown fans, including those watching the game from FX McRory's in Seattle.
"You got to be with the 12th man … be with your fellow 12s - it just makes it that much more exciting, especially … especially if something good happens - or bad," says Seahawks fan Matt Larocca.
As the beloved 'Hawks prepared to face the Redskins thousands of miles away, many fans here at home got an early start to emsure camaradarie.
Says fan Erik Pfanschmidt: "We were hoping to get first crack at good seats."
And that they did. Business was bustling at Buckley's in Belltown early Sunday morning.
At FX McRory's during the first quarter, fans focused on the Seahawks as they fought to catch the Redskins.
"It's exciting - it should be a little louder in here … I think," said fan Michael Bourdukofshy.
No problem - just leave that to fan Leslie Baldwin.
"Twelfth man - they can't hear us in Washington, D.C.," she boomed.
By the third quarter, the Seahawks heard - as they played on to promising victory.
"I love the Seahawks - they're wonderful, yeah," says Jeanmarie Jordan.
But for now …. "A great victory," opined fan Erik Pfanschmidt.
The Seahawks will continue to play on for the top spot.
"Super Bowl - we're going," says fan Leslie Baldwin.
And since the Seahawks' big win, staff at FX McRory's has raised the Falcon banner as the Seahawks advance on in the playoffs.

That looks a bit like a younger Hilary Clinton applauding front left. (No disrespect to either Ms. Clinton or this woman; I only point to the physical resemblance with no political snark whatsoever.)
I am in Mazatlan for vacation and you should have seen the Seahawk jerseys here, I didn't see any Redskin shirts. I only had my Championship shirt with me and was offered $50. for it.
I went up to our local safeway yesterday before the game and there were so many people at the store in their seahawk jerseys buying beer and chips. There were long lines at the registers. It looked like superbowl sunday. It was really funny.Â
No offense but from the segment I watched, it looked like the crowd at FX was pretty lame today...Nothing personal, I love my fellow 12, but man, if anybody watched the segment of the 12 representing at the local bar in DC, it was quite the contrast.
It's the little things. Wilson throwing a block DOWN-FIELD for Lynch. Lynch chugging out an extra yard. The tight ends catching balls that were not exactly on the mark. Not panicking when down two touchdowns.
Â
And once again a good clean hard hit gets a penalty. Fifteen yards for lifting your petticoats. Geez.

Â
@Getov Mylon The downfield block by Wilson and the fumble scoop and run by Lynch were my two favorite plays of the game. They play early this Sunday after a long flight, hopefully they get rested up!
@Couscous  @Getov Oh, yeah, the fumble scoop! Excellent "heads-up" play. Big thumbs up!
@Getov Mylon  @Couscous I don't always fumble the ball. But when I do, it's for a first down.
Go Hawks! and KOMO you suck for being so greedy and asking for so much money from the cable companies!
I hope Click Network refuses your demands! Companies like yours is why rates keep going up!
@Annette Gardner Dugan KOMO wasn't asking for as much as you'd think when you look at it from a dollars-per-error context.Â
I don't watch sports games but I have always been curious as to what do they mean when they say "12th man"?
Â
@Robinsnest When the team started in 1976, it automatically retired jersey No.12 for the fans. Maybe that's why we're so rabid and loyal! Welcome to the family. :^D
@MargeGunderson It was actually retired in 1984.
@Robinsnest 11 players on the field, 12th man is the fans cheering for the team. Influence the game like having an extra player. This phrase is copyrighted by Texas A&M, so the Seahawks have the 12th Fan.
@cgrady1981 Actually the courts ruled that it's not copyrighted by Texas A&M that's why we are still allowed to use it.Â
@citizen kane  @cgrady1981 Actually, it was settled out of court with money exchanging hands
@cgrady1981 12th Fan?? What the heck are you talking about. It has always been 12th Man. Seattle reached an agreement with Texas A&M to use the phrase, and did not have to change it to "12th Fan" http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2437992
@cgrady1981 Thanks. That's what I thought but not so sure. Way to go Seahawks!
@31F  @Robinsnest Louder than even the few remaining domed stadiums. Loud enough to force 11 false starts in a single game on Giants QB Eli Manning, the younger of the dooshbrothers. :^D
Â
Loud enough that Manning whined that we'd pumped in fake crowd noise via amplifiers. It was great to see on national forums so many fans of division rival teams who strongly dislike the Seahawks but assured everyone else that yep, we are that loud without any additional help.Â
@Robinsnest You should attend a home-game sometime and experience the 12th fan - very loud!
