Search on for Seattle rafter missing on Idaho's Snake River

GRANGEVILLE, Idaho (AP) - The Idaho County sheriff's office in Grangeville, Idaho, has begun a search for a 54-year-old Seattle man who had planned a rafting trip on the Snake River.

KHQ-TV of Spokane reports that Alexander Belyaev left the Hells Canyon Dam area last Friday, planning to raft to Pittsburg Landing where he had left his vehicle. Belyaev was reported overdue when he did not return to work on Tuesday.

The sheriff's office found the man's vehicle at Pittsburg Landing and searched the river by boat until dark.

Search crews planned to resume their efforts Wednesday.
