Search on for mushroom picker missing in Lewis County
RANDLE, Wash. -- Search and rescue crews set out again Monday morning to look for a 79-year-old Tacoma man who became separated from his family while picking mushrooms on Sunday.
Lewis County sheriff Chief Deputy Stacy Brown said the family was off of Forest Service Road 26 about 10 miles south of Randle when they last saw the man about 10:30 a.m.
They waited for him at their car and searched for several hours before calling police Sunday afternoon.
Brown said the man had a backpack with water but was not equipped to spend the night outdoors, where overnight temperatures dropped to about 32 degrees.
The man's family said he is an experienced hiker who does not suffer from any medical conditions that might have caused him to go missing. His name has not been released.
Members of Packwood Search and Rescue and Cascade Dogs searched until midnight and the search resumed Monday with additional personnel.

Wonder if he ate one of those 'magic' shrooms?
Seems like a strange time to go mushroom hunting considering we've had no rain.Â
Humm, something in the air thats causing the elderly with a medical condition to go wandering off, seems its been happening quite a bit in the great northwest lately...Â
@Windowseat "does not suffer from any medical conditions "  Let's hope they find this gentleman or he walks out by himself - the weather is on his side.  SAR - So that others may live.
Wishing the best of luck to the searchers. Hopefully he will be found safe.
