Cruise season kicks off in Seattle
May 3, 2014 marks the first day of Alaska cruise season in Seattle, Washington.
SEATTLE - The first cruise ships of the Alaska travel season arrived early Saturday morning in the Magnolia neighborhood of Seattle.

Cruise ships from Holland America and Princess were provisioned and powered by Seattle City Light while hundreds of visitors toured their floating hotel.

One hundred and seventy-eight ships are expected to leave the Port of Seattle this year, bringing in about 800,000 passengers between now and September.

State officials and businesses are also looking forward to the season, as 375 million dollars in business revenue, and more than 16.5 million dollars in state and local tax revenue is expected.
