Seattle architect giving voice, helping hand to area homeless
Crystal
"This is Crystal, she is 24 years old and homeless. She sleeps in a tent by herself under one of the freeway bridges. Here she is checking to see if the clothes she had gotten wet in the day before had dried yet. In the morning she had spread them out over some bushes to dry in the sun.
I asked her how she takes care of little things like washing up or even how she charges her cell phone. She said she looks for houses with 4-Sale signs, makes sure they are vacant, and then goes in the back to look for an outlet to plug her phone into and a hose bibb to wash clothes or wipe herself down. I thought to myself, well of course she would do this, we all pick up survival skills relative to our environment."
