Seattle woman killed in head-on collision in South Park area

SEATTLE - A Seattle woman was killed Friday night after a van crashed through a chain-link fence and careened onto Highway 99 in south Seattle in the South Park area and collided head-on with her pickup truck..

Vickey Tilson, 51, of Seattle died at the scene. She was driving a Chevy pickup headed north on 99 when the crash happened after 11:15 p.m. Two of her passengers suffered non-life threatening injuries.

A Dodge Caravan driven by a 44-year-old woman from Tukwila was traveling southbound on W. Marginal Place South south of 14th Ave. South, when it left the road to the right. The van went through a chain link fence headed southbound into the northbound lanes of Highway 99 striking the pickup.

The Caravan and pickup came to rest in the northbound lanes of Highway and were totaled.

Two passengers in Tilson's truck, a 58-year-old man and 13-year-old boy were injured and transported to Harborview. The driver of the van was also taken to Harborview with non-life threatening injuries.

Everyone involved was wearing a seatbelt except the 13-year-old boy.

The crash is under investigation by the State Patrol, which is trying to determine what caused the van driver to go through the fence into traffic.
