SEATTLE -- A 27-year-old Seattle woman who admitted to stealing from elderly residents at several retirement communities was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Friday.

Prosecutors say Amanda Tucker conned her way into a number of the retirement homes and then burglarized the residents. The mother of six and admitted drug addict had earlier pleaded guilty to 23 felonies for the crimes.

Prosecutors had asked Judge Michael Hayden for the maximum standard sentence of 7 years, but Hayden said he found an exceptional basis to go beyond the recommendation.

"She targeted the most vulnerable members of our society. That's a cold, calculated, methodical plan," Seattle Police Department Det. Dain Jones said at the hearing.

Many of Tucker's victims are suffering from Alzheimer's disease, and those who aren't went to the sentencing to speak about their losses.

"She took a camera that had pictures of someone who passed away and I'll never have those pictures again," said victim Esther Greiner.

Tucker told Hayden the crimes were a result of her drug addiction, but he was unsympathetic. He said 13 of the felonies were committed after she posted bail on 13 other charges
