EDMONDS, Wash. - Two people were rescued at a Snohomish County Park in Edmonds Friday night following a botched double suicide attempt.

Emergency crews were sent to Meadowdale Beach Park around 10:25 p.m. after a 911 call for help was made by one of the victims.

Police reported the man sustained life-threatening injuries, while the woman was in serious condition Saturday morning. The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office later confirmed the incident was a double suicide attempt.

Firefighters were unable to locate the couple due to the park's difficult terrain, so law enforcement used thermal imaging equipment to locate the pair. Ninety minutes later, law enforcement found the couple deep in the park, near the water.

"Meadowdale Beach Park is fairly large, difficult to access," Snohomish County Fire Leslie Hynes said. "We didn't know exactly where the people were, and because of the nature of their injuries, law enforcement was dispatched to locate them."
