Sex offender arrested in connection with rape, kidnapping

Officers arrested a Level 3 sex offender who allegedly sexually and physically assaulted an 18-year-old woman Wednesday night in North Seattle.
According to the Seattle Police Department, the woman called police around 7 p.m. to report the attack.
She led officers to the 55-year-old suspect, who was arrested near North 145th Street and booked into King County Jail for investigation of rape and kidnapping.
Police are not releasing any additional information at this time.
Imagine that, a Level III sex offender who has re-offended!
Did anyone know there is a direct relationship between public notification and HIGHER rates of re-offense? Â Why would that be? Â Wby would a person who is hated, isolated, alientated possibly commit a crime against another person? Â
The sex offender registry IS illegal! Â It is illegal because it tells the public about a danger, that may or may not exist, and if it does the ONLY action the State does is warn. Â
Yes, I am the person who left the registry. Â I can do that because the registry doesn't protect the community and ONLY makes the community more dangerous. Â Maybe if there wasn't so many on the registry the State could take real actions to monitor and influence the behavior of people.
Well, that would require a court, and a standard of proof. Â It is too much fun pointing fingers at people, moralizing about how much you are better than THOSE people, and not really caring whether the policies in place actually makes it more likely a person commits crimes. Â
Well, this is your solution. Â Tell everyone how dangerous they are and wait till they meet expectations. Â HEY, they are only victims. Â How can they blame YOU for policies that end up raping more children? Â It SEEMS like a good idea! Â
Really??? How can you say the registry makes it more dangerous for the community? I show my children pictures of sex offenders in the area where I live, so they know if they see one of those people that they need to stay away from them and find an adult they know and trust.Â
Are you saying you left the registry as a sex offender? Or are you one of the community who is not a sex offender?Â
If you are a sex offended, then you get what you deserve!!
@traceywo How can I say that the registry makes the community more dangerous? I have read peer reviewed research done by universities that says making desperate outcasts does NOTHING to protect the community. Â
See, I won't go on a registry that seeks to isolate me from the community because of some unproven danger that I supposedly harbor. It is axiomatic to state that the community can't protect themselves from people who are not dangerous. Â
See, tracey, putting two things together of "getting what you deserve" and "protection of the community" doesn't work. The registry isn't supposed to be a punishment. It is supposed to be a civil law (but everyone knows it is a punishment). Â
I can't be a sex offender if I am not on a registry. A sex offender is a state created label done by a legislature with no court review (or meaningful review). Â
So, you warned your kids away from THOSE people. Do they know the faces of the 100's of sex offenders in the community? Do your kids know the faces of those that are a 20 minute bus ride from your house? Â
Your kids will be molested 20 times by people NOT on the registry before one on the registry gets around to your kids (over 95% of sex crimes are by those not on the registry). Your kids are more likely to be molested by that so-called "trusted adult". In fact (if facts matter, and they don't) your kids are in much greater danger from YOU the parent, than from any sex offender. Â
The sex offender registry is an ex-post facto illegal punishment that does nothing to protect the community and is cruel and unusual in the fact that it doesn't require a danger to exist and only leaves a person isolated from the community.
NO, Tracey, you will NEVER get me on a registry. It just won't happen. Sorry.  Â
Thoughts are with the young woman targeted in this.Â
We need to expand the SCC on McNeil, I don't want this people on the same land as myself.
A repeat sex offender? I hope they deliver a really stern lecture to him...he deserves to be told in strong terms that what he is doing is wrong I say.
No sex offender EVER gets their name off the registry. They can get off parole but are required to register no matter what county they live in. Doesn't mean they do, but they are supposed to...
@Roni That depends on the state, after a certain amount of years in certain states, I know you can be removed from the registry list. Which is scary.Â
As I said in another thread: Level III Offenders are just waiting for the right opportunity.
Where's that guy who was so proud of getting his name off the registry? Nothing like a sex-offender apologist to lighten the mood.
@Just_Mike Look above, I think your wish has been granted.
@Just_Mike Huh, getting their name OFF the registry?  I did not know that was even possible.  I don't like the sound of that. Â
@K. Coleman @Just_Mike Yep, and seemed proud of it too. It was the article about the Kent sex offender who changes his appearance all the time. Great example of someone who takes zero accountability for their own actions and places it all on the system.
@Just_Mike @K. Coleman I should be proud for beating the sex offender registry. I beat it BECAUSE it is an ILLEGAL ex-post facto law that ONLY has the outcome of a loss of safety and/or security. Â
Kinda stupid to think that under those circumstances the registry can't be beat.
Yet ANOTHER sex offender who has re-offended. There should be a mandatory life sentence for sex offenders who re-offend, because that means they aren't able to be rehabilitated.Â
