FEDERAL WAY, Wash. -- One man was killed and six other people were wounded in a shootout at bar in Federal Way early Wednesday.

Officers arrived to find a chaotic scene outside Johnny's Famous Grill and Bar just after 2 a.m. Investigators are still trying to sort out exactly what happened, but believe that two men got into an argument and started shooting at each other.

Officials said the 23-year-old man who was fatally shot had a gun, but it was not clear whether he fired first.

Police believe the other shooter, who was identified as 21-year-old Kenny M. Sutton, was also wounded in the gun battle. Sutton was treated at a Renton hospital and then released to Federal Way police.

Sutton is expected to be booked into jail for investigation of murder. Sutton has a lengthy criminal history including promoting prostitution and illegal possession of a firearm.

Five other people were caught in the crossfire and are being treated for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

Family members identified the dead man as Cloise Young, of Kent. They said he has a 2-year-old daughter and don't know why he would have been involved in a shooting.

Federal Way Police Deputy Chief Andy Hwang said the motive for the shooting, including whether it's gang-related, remains under investigation.

Detectives cordoned off the scene at 2318 SW 336th Street while they collected evidence and interviewed witnesses.
