Skiers finally get to hit the slopes at Snoqualmie Summit
HYAK, Wash. -- Skiers and snowboarders finally got to gear up at The Summit at Snoqualmie on Friday where the resort was running on limited operations.

"I'm just hoping that the snow keeps up and it makes up for it in the later months," said snowboarder Zach Tegge who came from Ellensburg.

The Summit typically opens in early-December but the dry weather conditions caused a later start. There was just 24 inches on the ground as of late Thursday.

"I think it is a frustrating situation but the thing is it always does snow eventually," said Guy Lawrence who is the Marketing Director at The Summit at Snoqualmie. "It's a winter environment and we have to take what we get, when we get it."

And he is right. A Winter Storm Warning was in effect for Saturday for as much as 2 feet of new snow by Sunday.

Summit West was the only lift area open on Friday. The Summit Central will open on Saturday and Alpental on Sunday.
