Parts of Washington finish up 2012 with a little snow

OLYMPIA, Wash. - Consider it an end of the year gift from Mother Nature.
Light snow fell in parts of Western Washington Monday morning, including south Puget Sound, the Chehalis Valley, and parts of Whatcom and San Juan counties.
A weak weather system managed to sneak through a ridge of high pressure and clip the southwestern part of the state with a little moisture and with cold air in place, it was enough to bring a little snow.
Temperatures in the mid 30s prevented anything more than brief slushy accumulations of snow mainly on grassy surfaces in most areas, but in some areas, especially south of Olympia, snow briefly accumulated on roadways, causing spinouts and some minor collisions on Interstate 5, the Washington State Patrol reported. At most, about 1-2 inches were reported.
But the snow tapered off into the afternoon as the system moved south into Oregon and skies were to clear across the region overnight, allowing temperatures to drop into the upper 20s to low 30s with areas of fog.

I really don't care if it snows here because I am getting up on the 1st and welcoming in the new year on the slops. I will have my snow :)
@Just my say "Slops"?
 @Silvia hahaha *slopes
STORMAGGEDON! News at eleven with One Size Too Big Yellow Jacket Guy (Jim Forman of K*NG)!
@Getov Mylon  Don't you dare mock local news! Who else would bring us these important stories?Â
 @lakeview  @Getov Are you a  "Mod" or a "Rocker?"
Â
We're mockers...

Too bad Western Washington gets all the fun.
Too bad taxes are not.
What happened to that sunshine they mentioned?? It's been freezing cold, dark, gray, in the South Sound for weeks... Â Anyone else get sun?Â
@DTÂ Sunny and clear here in northern California!Â
 @lakeview And that's why nobody likes Californians.
 @lakeview You have a KOMO addiction, its time to put the computer down and enjoy your visit.Â
@domino  I live in Seattle. I'm visiting California. Jelly?Â
...until the Green River Valley gets 42", I will not be happy........
Wish there was snow in South Seattle.
Â
Noticed something funny, in the last paragraph, the word "around" was written twice. - quote "Interstate 5 corridor around around 4 p.m"
@PersianTrainer Sounds to me like the weather people are talking in circles again...around and around...
@swansong68 good one!
Blows my plan for a last day of the year motorcycle ride.
@Tolly371Â Â We rode yesterday and while a bit chilly, it was great to be out in the sunshine.
 @scared_citizen Sunshine? You got sunshine?  Lucky.Â
@DT  Yes. When we rode out of the driveway at 12:30, it was clear and sunny (and chilly). On the ride home, the sun started to set and it got COLD fast.
There were a number of accidents down south on I-5 at Grand Mound and the Maytown Road exits earlier this morning. At the time, snow was sticking to I-5 as far south as Chehalis at Exit 72 by the RIbEye.Â
Â
Maybe the DOT traffic cameras in that ares would have been a better forecast by KOMO as the pics are never more than 4 minutes old.
wow such news breaking event. Â Some one at komo stuck their head out the window.
 @FBrumfield Who $**T in your cereal?
@Cooter_Brown @FBrumfield I thought it was funny because I stepped outside and looked at my weather rock...same thing :)
I had to go into Lacy this morning from Shelton when I left it was mostly rain with a few lumps and a hour later on my way back to Shelton it was pouring pure snow. It is snowing hard in Shelton but not sticking to the roads. Looks real pretty.
