Snow showers trigger spin-outs, collisions in Pierce County

GRAHAM, Wash. - Multiple vehicles have collided or spun off roadways in parts of Pierce County as snow showers passed through the area, coating roads with a slippery layer of slush.

Several cars were reported off the roadway into the ditch along Highway 161 south of Graham.

Collisions and snow-related problems also were reported on Highway 7 south of Elk Plain and along Highway 702.

Aerial footage from KOMO's Air 4 showed tow trucks pulling vehicles from ditches and minor traffic backups in the area. The Washington State Patrol urged motorists to exercise caution in areas of Pierce, Thurston and Lewis counties where snow is falling.

Snow showers are expected to taper off through the afternoon.
