Soldier now a wanted man after love triangle shooting
TACOMA, Wash. -- No one was injured when a fight ended in gunfire late Thursday after a Joint-Base Lewis McChord soldier was caught with another woman by his pregnant girlfriend, police said.
The incident began about 9:50 p.m. at an apartment complex in south Tacoma where the soldier had been drinking with several friends.
According to Tacoma police, the soldier's pregnant girlfriend showed up to surprise him and found him with another woman.
The soldier and pregnant woman began fighting and the woman damaged the soldier's truck, prompting him to pull out a semi-automatic handgun and shoot her car windshield, police said.
No one was hit by the gunshot and the soldier ran off.
Officers surrounded the area and used a police dog and State Patrol aircraft to help with the search, but the soldier remains at large.
Officials said the soldier lives in the Lacey area and investigators have advised Lacey police and officials at Fort Lewis to be on the lookout for the him.

Sounds like a perfect fit for the Armed Forces. Up next, a stint in law enforcement.
There are quite a few details left out of this report, some are necessary to determine what caused this to escalate to the point it did. Obviously the soldier should have never brandished a gun under any circumstances. Both these people need to take responsibility for their part in this and perhaps under the circumstances it would be best if they just parted ways permanently. The soldier is probably considered AWOL
on top of everything else so his few minutes of bravado will cost him dearly. I have my doubts that this pregnancy was planned......poor child.
Classy huh?
Okay, lesson to be learned; If you have a pregnant girlfriend and she finds you with another woman, and you retalliate by opening fire, you lose both! Duh!
Ok first off shes pregnant people she is probably by herself if this guy is around other women, secondly we dont know how long they have been together or reasons to why they arent married. Again he is in the army not the best job for people who are in a relationship, it is very hard to do! So before we get all high and mighty he DID WRONG, and she did wrong by picking him, he was just dumb for pulling out his gun and shooting a the car window. All around live and learn and I hope she and he get some sort of help before this baby comes, we have enough children in unstable homes as is
How many shootings in the Puget sound so far this week?
@Commonsense 25 or 30.
Does ANYONE out there still believe in getting married first, wait a few years then start having children? Young ones are getting pregnant just because they are not smart enough to use birth control and they cannot control their sexual impulses. Yeah, that's why I want to be born. Because I was conceived on a night my parents were stoned or drunk at a party and were irresponsible & still are to this day. Â And I have 3 siblings. Â None of us have the same Father. Oh & I need to be on welfare to support these kids. Their daddy might give me some money but (or sometimes I use the welfare money) I need it to pay my cell phone bill & get this tattoo that I want really bad. Now my kids have to eat mac & cheese for the rest of the week. Thank goodness they get free school lunches that are semi healthy. Lord have mercy.
@Gigi LOL, it's as if you took the words out of my mouth.
I feel sorry for the kid that isn't born yet. Both parents need to get their anger management, impulsiveness, and decision making abilities under control.
@The WA Mama I feel sorry for the tax payers too.
Better dump this creep, sister. You will be lucky if all you got from him was a child. Run, don't walk, to the nearest social services agency and get some help. But give this bad apple up!
@kana hopefully that would not be the welfare office.
@kana You give her some good advice, but sounds like she also needs to learn to control her temper too.
Someone is going off to the brig for a stay or off the the front lines of Afghanistan..
I wonder if this guy is the "escapee" that the police were arresting this morning on I-5 southbound between Rochester & Maytown (causing a HUGE backup on the freeway - they had all lanes shut down!)
Our military personnel, keeping it classy.
So.....is she getting charged with a crime for damaging his windshield? No? Didn't think so.......not saying the guy is right but the so called "justice" is a joke when only the guy is ever punished and the woman is allowed to walk away scot free from her crime.
@dg54321 Where does it say she got away " scot free".  I am pretty sure charges can be filed once the police report is filed with the prosecutors office
@dg54321 Unfortunately, the police look at her as the "victim" since she is a poor defenseless pregnant woman. Equal rights until it comes to the law. Always the same.
@dg54321 He shot out her wind shield. The report mentions that she damaged his truck- without saying specifically what she did. Probably kicked it or something. But you are correct that both people should have to be accountable for their actions. His was a bit more extreme than hers it sounds like.
@dg54321 If he hadn't SHOT her windshield, possibly neither of them would have been charged.
@katiemcc  @dg54321 Shot the windshield, damaged his truck.....either way it's a violent crime and BOTH need to be held accountable. Or do you think women are automatically above the law?
@katiemcc Agreed. I believe under the law using a weapon makes a misdemeanor an automatic felony. No issues with that one.....but the woman should be charged with vandalism, malicious mischief, something along those lines as well. Could be KOMO's famous reporting, but it seems like she hasn't been.....
@dg54321 They should either both be charged with damaging the other's vehicle, though I think his charge should be more since he used a gun, or neither should be charged with it. Even if neither are charged for damage to the vehicles, he might still be charged with weapons violations of some kind.
I most certainly do NOT think women are above the law, but I do think whoever pulls out the gun (or knife or other weapon) should be charged more.
Damn windshield... those things really pizz me off too... Â < fool.
Losing a girl, or getting a new one while you still have one is never worth it. Have fun in the can dude!
He won't be seeing any women or his baby for quite awhile. Â Have fun in the brig! Â
Setllar soldier.
