State representatives OKs wine tasting bill for under-21 studies

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) - The state House has passed a proposal that would allow students under age 21 to taste wine in college classes.
The measure was approved on a 94-3 vote Friday night and now heads to the Senate.
Currently, students who are enrolled in a viticulture or enology degree program can't taste wine as part of their course work.
The measure passed Friday creates a special permit for colleges, universities, community colleges and vocational schools to allow students under 21 enrolled in such programs to taste, but not ingest, wine as part of their studies.
Earlier this week, the Senate passed a similar measure that would permit alcohol tasting for students enrolled in culinary, beer technology or similar programs.

Really? Does our state government not have more important things to do? No wonder things are in shambles.
what a bloody waste of taxpayer dollars. The state has an underfunded education system and this is the priorty? Can we ask for a recount on election results going back 4 years?
Olympia will need a break after passing these tough issues, losing your weed and tasting wine in cooking class, lawmakers must be exhausted..
Yeah, again they demonstrate well exactly where their priorities are. Guess we're all done wondering why nothing ever gets done.
Was there NOTHING else that they could have been working on? Seems like this would be pretty much at the bottom of the list.
Who the f put this through? Either change the drinking age or sh can this.
I am betting there was lobbying money behind this...
Yes they have time for this. Wine is a very lucrative industry for this state, and a serious course of study. A request was made by the individuals involved in taking and teaching these courses for this law to be passed.Â
Taste only. ;)   Got it!
Yes, this is what the politicians should be spending their time on. Â
First marijuana for all, now alcohol for minors. What's next - Strip clubs for teens?
they have time 4 this, but not 2 balance the budget?Â
Olympia has too much time on their hands. We can't afford them and our state residents are not getting bang for the buck. Let's cut the legislature in half and allow them to draw straws to determine who stays or goes.
