FIFE, Wash. -- In what is one of any father's worst nightmares, a man reportedly discovered his runaway 15-year-old stepdaughter and her 15-year-old friend working as prostitutes.
According to probable cause documents from the Pierce County Prosecuting Attorney, the man was alerted to his stepdaughter's ad on Backpage.com by a friend. He had his sister's husband contact his stepdaughter, who was going by the name Diamond, for a date.
The man's brother-in-law agreed to meet Diamond in Room 236 of a Motel 6 in Fife and pay her $1,200 for the night, according to the probable cause documents. When he showed up, he confirmed Diamond was in the room before having her stepfather call police early Monday morning.
Officers arrived and found the room was registered to Samuel Miles-Johnson and Joshua Jones. They were arrested outside the motel.
According to the probable cause documents, Jones told officers he met Diamond the day before, knew she was a prostitute, and agreed to meet her at the hotel where he would pay her for sex.
Jones reportedly told officers Diamond said she was going to bring her friend, who was going by the name Winter, so Jones brought Miles-Johnson along with him.
According to the documents, Winter's ad on Backpage.com listed the same phone number Miles-Johnson gave to the motel when he registered. He and Jones were arrested for investigation of promoting sexual abuse of a minor.
Officers found Winter outside the motel with condoms in her purse. She gave a false name but was later identified, according to the documents.
Diamond was also found by officers, reportedly saying, "I'd rather go to jail than go home."
Jones and Miles-Johnson pleaded not guilty to commercial sex abuse of a minor June 11 and will be held on $500,000 bail each.
Jones was convicted of promotion of prostitution in 2011. Miles-Johnson was previously convicted of vehicular assault and robbery.
