Sultan high school evacuated due to fire

SULTAN, Wash. (AP) - The Sultan fire chief says the town's high school was temporarily evacuated when a fire broke out Friday afternoon.

No one was injured.

The Daily Herald of Everett reports that Fire Chief Merlin Halverson says the fire apparently started in the system used to collect sawdust in the high school's shop room.

The buildings filled with smoke but firefighters stopped the flames before they could spread into the ventilation system.

The main buildings have been reopened.
