EVERETT, Wash. - Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man with a husky build who reportedly attempted to abduct a 15-year-old girl near Silver Lake.

Everett police spokesman Aaron Snell said the girl was walking home Oct. 29 near Emory’s On Silver Lake, at 11830 19th Ave. SE, with a friend when they became separated.

As the 15-year-old girl walked south on 19th Ave SE, a man walked north past her. The girl kept walking but turned to look back. As she turned, she saw the man reaching to grab her arm.

The girl jumped back, frightened. She ran across the road with the man attempting to follow, but he was unable to cross due to traffic. The girl said she looked at the man who was staring at her before she ran south.

The male was last seen running to the south, but kept going when the girl turned onto a side road towards home.

The girl was not injured and called her parents while running home. The family called 911 and officers searched the area with a K-9 police dog, but did not locate the man.

The suspect is described as white, 40 to 50 years of age, 5-feet-6-inches tall, with a husky build, short white hair and a beard. He was wearing a blue baseball hat, a dark blue T-shirt and light blue jeans.

Anyone who has information about this incident, or anything similar, is asked to call 911, the Everett Police Department tip line at (425) 257-8450 or Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound at 1-800-222-TIPS.
