ALOHA, Ore. – The bad apple didn’t fall far from the tree.

Washington County sheriff’s deputies said they chased a suspected burglar up a tree in Aloha on Saturday, then arrested him after he fell.

Bret T. Davis, 46, was about 40 feet up when he fell and sustained non-life-threatening injuries, deputies said.

Deputies responded to a burglary call on S.W. Pheasant Dr. on Saturday afternoon around 2:40 p.m. They said when they showed up, Davis ran into a wooded area behind the house and they chased him with a K-9.

Deputies said they found Davis in a tree less than a mile away, but he refused to come down. He climbed higher instead, before finally falling.

Davis was charged with first-degree burglary, third-degree robbery, fourth-degree assault and second-degree theft.

The homeowner also suffered minor injuries.
