SEATTLE - A state trooper was injured when a suspected drunk driver plowed into two Washington State Patrol cars on Interstate 5 overnight.

Trooper Cliff Pratt says the two state patrol cars were stopped with emergency lights at the scene of a previous accident on the Ship Canal bridge about 11 p.m. Monday when the driver of a Honda Civic crashed into one WSP patrol car.

The force of the impact shoved the patrol car into the second trooper's car.

The trooper with the first car was outside of his vehicle when it was hit. He was not struck or injured.

The trooper in the second car was injured and was treated at Northwest Hospital for neck and back pain.

The 28-year-old man who was driving the Honda Civic was arrested and booked into King County Jail for investigation of DUI.

One patrol car was totaled but the other may be repairable.
