CRESWELL, Ore. (AP) - Oregon State Police have arrested a Tacoma man after an Interstate 5 chase that reached speeds of more than 100 mph and may have involved a gunshot fired at a passing truck.

Lt. Gregg Hastings says 24-year-old James Carl Voshell was booked Monday into the Lane County Jail in Eugene for investigation of offenses including reckless endangerment, reckless driving, felony attempt to elude and carrying a concealed weapon.

Police say the speeding car was stolen in Washington state.

Lebanon, Oregon, police first tried to stop the car. Then state police took up the chase southbound on I-5, where the car reached speeds exceeding 100 mph. A spike strip deflated a front tire at Cottage Grove. Hastings says the driver then turned around and headed northbound on the freeway. Down to three good tires, the driver slowed to 80 to 90 mph.

The driver left the freeway at Creswell and was forced to a stop.

Police think the driver fired at least one shot out of the car as it passed a tractor-trailer rig on I-5. Hastings says the commercial driver is probably unaware that his trailer may have been hit.
