Tacoma police: 1 injured, 1 dead after Tacoma shootings

TACOMA, Wash. - A woman's ex-boyfriend shot her new male friend, then barricaded himself in an apartment before shooting himself early Saturday, police said.

The drama began shortly after midnight when the ex-boyfriend came to a house on East 57th Street where his former girlfriend was with her new friend. An argument broke out, and the ex-boyfriend shot the woman's new friend in the stomach, according to police.

The ex-boyfriend then fled to an apartment complex in Lakewood, where he barricaded himself inside one of the units.

Officers arrived at the complex and called in a SWAT team.

A few hours later, SWAT team members moved into the complex and found the ex-boyfriend dead inside the apartment of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The condition of the new friend who was shot in the stomach was not immediately available.
