PUYALLUP, Wash. -- A 15-year-old girl was injured in a Thursday night hit-and-run in Puyallup.
Chloe Williams had just left the Golden Rule grocery store and was in a crosswalk on West Stewart Avenue when she was hit by a full-sized SUV, according to Capt. Scott Engle with the Puyallup Police Department.
"They left her! In the middle of a dark intersection they just left her!!" said family friend Barb Cendejas. "Somebody else could have run over her for goodness sake it makes me sick."
Chloe was taken to Tacoma's St. Joseph's Hospital in stable condition. Family members said she suffered broken bones, several bruises and a concussion.
"She has lacerations all over," said Chloe's grandmother Gert Williams. "They had to have known that she was hit with those injuries."
After hitting Chloe, the SUV likely fled eastbound on Stewart. Engle said the vehicle may have been coming from the direction of Puyallup High School.
Based on surveillance footage from the area, police believe the vehicle that hit the girl was a white, full-sized SUV -- possibly a General Motors brand like a Chevy Suburban or Tahoe. Police say the vehicle likely has front end damage as well as a possible dent on the hood.
If you have any information on the case, you're asked to call police.
"That person needs to be caught," Cendejas said. "They need to be stopped -- that is not right."

Yikes. I hope she is ok.
I wonder why they took her to St Joes when Good Sam is closer.
They went to St Joes because Good Sam doesn't have a Trauma Center
@Habaneroguy @doxiemom2008 @Skillet77 Agreed to all. Good Sam is a nightmare of a hospital.Â
@Tattooed_Angel2Â Because they wanted her to live. Good Sam is where you take a person if you want them to die.
@Tattooed_Angel2Â
Because Good Sams is a joke, worst hospital in Western Washington.
As I have said before, we should do what Mexico does and put speed bumps in to control the speed in the city. Even every other block at intersections would make people pay attention and drive the speed limit.
That poor girl! I hope she is ok. I really hope they are able to catch the jerkwad that hit her and ran off like a sniveling coward. If there is video footage, it should be posted in case someone recognizes the vehicle.
I don't want to come across as being glad these incidents happen, but I AM NOT SURPRISED AND IT IS TIME WALKERS AND BICYCLISTS ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY. As a driver I carry the liability and that is just not fair.
Hit and run is a cowardly and criminal act. BUT I have experienced so many near misses on the road as a driver. I am careful driver with a 100% clean record but several times each week on my way to work in the dark or coming home in the dark I have to watch not for children playing but for bicycles and people walking on the shoulders with the darkest possible clothing and bicycles with none or very poor lights.
I walk my dog every day but I am on the sidewalk or if I need to walk on the shoulders I use not one but two bright flashlights; one point ahead and the other pointing backwards because I want to give drivers a fair chance to react to people ahead (myself and my wife). I know that with proper education and flashlights in particulars, many of these incidents would be avoided. And for the criminals, they deserve punishment.
I
@Socialjusticeforall What the hell are you talking about? She was in a crosswalk. No matter what she was wearing or whether she had a flashlight, the driver should have checked the crosswalk. It is absolutely fair for the driver to "carry the liability."Â
I often wish pedestrians would wear lighter clothing and think more about their own visibility, but 2 bright flashlights on every pedestrian does not sound very smart. The last thing I need when I'm driving in the dark is a bright light shining in my face, which could easily happen even if the pedestrian didn't intend it.Â
"...either a black SUV or a white SUV."
That's kind of a big difference. It also could've been an airplane. It's hard to tell from the footage.
@Illuminati Cops in WA are bright.
My 1st thought is, 'why would you run?' But then I guess it's most likely because they have something to hide and feel that's more important than someone's life.
@ThunderOr it was a white girl that was hit by a black person that has seen their friends and family be unfairly persecuted, and tried, with heavier penalties than any of the other races. And they are scared that they might get a stiffer penalty than say, a hunky native kid from forks that dragged a girl 80 feet.
@yourbuddy A better question would be, why can't your family and friends stay out of jail ?
@yourbuddy Professor, go work on the final exam for your sociology class and remember you are not really in touch with the real world.Â
@yourbuddy you're a bigot and ignorant.
My wife isn't white and she doesnlt play the vitcim card. Grow up. Race isnt an exscuse to break the law.
You are seriously a complete moron. I bet you drive 60 in the fast lane dont you...
@komonews SAD:(
How much does anyone want to bet it was a female speeding, and texting, while putting on makeup, and listening to one direction way too loud.
@yourbuddy Who is One Direction?
@yourbuddy Chances are most of what you posted is probably what happened, but your One Direction reference totally made me laugh! :)
