Toddler's leg cut off in lawnmower accident

CAMAS, Wash. – An 18-month-old child's leg was cut off by a lawnmower Sunday afternoon in Clark County, the sheriff's office said.

It happened at a home near NE 272nd Avenue and NE 36th Street, north of Camas.

Sgt. Craig Randall the child's grandfather was backing up in the riding lawn mower when it backed over the child's leg. 

Randall said there was no indication that drugs or alcohol were involved.

The child was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to a Portland hospital.
