Too cold Saturday for Walla Walla parade

WALLA WALLA, Wash. (AP) - It's too cold for a parade this weekend in Walla Walla.

The Downtown Walla Walla Foundation has postponed the Macy's Parade of Lights scheduled for Saturday to the following Saturday, Dec. 14.

Events manager Gina Grant Bull says they didn't want to expose an estimated 5,000 spectators to a forecast temperature no warmer than 11 degrees. Organizers hope the weather will turn warmer next week.

The National Weather Service expects temperatures will moderate by mid-week.

Some temperatures before dawn Friday: 29 at Sea-Tac Airport, 23 at Bellingham, 25 at Olympia, 12 at Yakima, 8 at Spokane, 7 at Pasco, 9 at Walla Walla and minus-3 at Pullman. It was also minus-3 at the Pullman-Moscow Airport on Thursday, breaking the record low of 0 that was set in 1972.
