Police find 3 kids and a dog inside car trunk
SEATTLE -- A Woodinville woman and her boyfriend are facing a host of felony charges after troopers found the duo speeding through Bothell with three young children and a dog in the trunk of their car.
A trooper first noticed the car Sunday just before 11 a.m. in the area of Canyon park. The car, a 2007 Nissan Sentra, was going 77 mph in a 60 mph zone, according to trooper Keith Leary. The trooper hit his lights, but he said it took roughly a half mile for the car to pull over.
Once stopped, the trooper said he immediately smelled marijuana in the car. The driver, 28-year-old Anna Boyle, allegedly said she "just took a few hits earlier." The trooper said both Boyle and her passenger, 27-year-old Aaron Johnston, appeared very nervous.
Boyle gave the trooper permission to search the car, and he soon found evidence of methamphetamine and heroin, as well as drug paraphernalia and prescription drugs.
"Glass pipes, tin foil, spoons with heroin residue," Leary said.
While he was searching the car, the trooper said he heard a "thumping sound" coming from the trunk. A second trooper saw the top of the trunk move, and when he opened the hatch he was shocked to see three young children and a dog. The kids -- an 8-year-old girl, a 7-year-old boy and a 5-year-old boy -- allegedly told the troopers they hadn't eaten since the previous night.
After helping the kids out of the trunk, the troopers began questioning Boyle. She said the kids, who are hers, "crawled back there" from the back seat, according to Leary.
Trooper say the car was packed with various items, including a snowboard, a guitar and various bags of miscellaneous items. There were no child seats in the car.
Troopers arrested Boyle and Johnston and booked them into Snohomish County Jail on drug charges. The prosecutor will decide if they're charged for keeping the kids in the trunk.
Child Protective Services now has the children and the dog.
"Our heart goes out to the kids that are not with their mom right now, but hopefully they are in a place where they are being taken care of, they are being fed," Leary said.

So a trunk IS Not a playpen ok...
Sometimes police brutality is OK this might be one of them...
Just sayin.....
Why am I surprised at this crap? Just when you think you've heard the most unbelievably dumb story, another doozy comes up.
They are going to decide if they are going to be charged for keeping the kids in the trunk!!!! WTF????? That should be their first concern!! POS I hope they NEVER get those kids back!! How sad did not feed the children since night before but had a buffet of drugs, REALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yep! Reckless Endangerment, Child Neglect, Gross Negligence, Drug Possession, Evading...........take your pick.Â
Â
Need to spay and neuter these people....gad.
The only funny part of this story is how stupid these people are:
Â
"...gave the trooper permission to search the car..."
Â
Â
Â
Â
@caphillkid Like they thought no one would notice their "baggage".
I think the kids and the dog were the smartest ones in the car by far. Â I would rather ride in the trunk than sit near these POS too.Â
I love how both King and Kiro mention the fact that the troopers bought the kids food since they had not eaten. Why was it left out here Komo?
@mspillowpants Because there is no sensationalism in that.
Exactly, they can't show that there are some decent cops out there. Sigh
People that should never have kids.Â
Â
Dear Trojan Condoms:
Â
What do we need to do to get people to wear these things?????
Â
Cordially,
Â
Â
Guy who feels sorry for kids with such crappy ass parents
Â
@MacGyver! Bundle the condoms with free crack pipes and weed and they might use them.
What the hell is wrong with people? I hope they never get their kids back. I hope the relatives they are with aren't as stupid as the mom.
This is why I can't be a cop. If I had been the one to pull her over and discovered this, it would be hard for me to not beat the snot out of her.
@Tattooed_Angel Oh you are so correct. I took a total of 6 kids over a 10 year period. Those were the only situations where I HAD to bite my tongue and not "accidentally" pepper spray the mother or beat the snot out of the parents. It was really the worst part, and sometimes the best. Having them in my car, sometimes in my arms was worth keeping my mouth shut...or I would have been fired the first time. The rest of the stuff I could care less what people said to me. But the kids..that hits the heart hard and I'll never forget all of them.
Disgusting. I hope she never gets her kids back.Â
What ? I can't keep my kids in the trunk smoke MJ and who knows what else and cruise around? Oh my bad.
Some people ah!
Drugs cause people to do stupid stuff. Where is the dad? This woman should never have her children again and I'd make her take a p i ss test before having any visitation with the children. These children could have been killed.....stupid fools......throw the book at them and KEEP them in jail for the duration of their sentence!
Drugs and children do not mix. We have a drug epidemic going on and there are countless kids growing up like this. We're going to pay the price when they come of age.
""Our heart goes out to the kids that are not with their mom right now, but hopefully they are in a place where they are being taken care of, they are being fed," Leary said." Â Really? Â Take the kids away permanently. Â She does not deserve them. Period. This was not a lapse in judgement. Â Â People here trash the CPS all the time, but they don't realize that for every horrific joke of a parent like that, there are hundreds of thousands of more. We simply don't have enough tax money to hire enough people to handle all of the children of the worthless parents in this State.
Trying to decide if the mother should be charged?? WTH??? Â They had the kids ride in the trunk so no one would see them without car seats. Â She doesn't deserve the kids. Â And I'm guessing the bf is not the father. Â
@DT You don't think the trooper should feel sad because these kids miss their mom? Of course they miss her, they don't know any different. The whole thing is sad beyond description. I hope the kids and dog will all get to stay together. You make one very excellent point : there are hundreds of thousands more.
These kids are already here, suffering from neglect, abuse, and horrific poverty. They are the reason we need the social programs that so many see as hand outs to fraudsters by a weenie liberal government. That view couldn't be more wrong. Fraud by their parents does not negate their need to eat some food every day. Have you ever seen a hungry kid(standing right in front of you- not on TV) with head lice and clothes that are dirty and too small? I have-they were my cousins when I was little. Thankfully my parents took them in and their dad eventually did clean up his act for them. We need to get rid of the fraud, not the programs.
@two loons  @DT This is why I spent so much time at the "spider" article.. Two kids were so mad at me for about a half hour..before we arrived at their aunt's house. They hugged me before they walked to her. They loved their mom, like you said it's all they know.
@Yeah_and  @two loons  @DT and sometimes people can get clean and become good parents. The mother will be forced into rehab and for the kids sake I hope she makes it. If not they need a new home. I have seen first hand what a drug addicted mother does to her kids.Â
@two loons  @DT None of my "kids" wanted me to take them, that was hard, watching them cry. But I had to do it. You said it very well. You have wonderful parents.
Good thing (question mark) now that the kids have become wards of Washington state...
"The prosecutor will decide if they're charged for keeping the kids in the trunk." I think this would be an easy decision. Why just charge them for the drug offences (even if it may be first offence). Speeding, eluding an officer, controlled substance, child endangerment, neglect....... I'm sure there could be 4 or 5 more charges added. Keep these two off the streets for a LONG time!
The mom and her girl friend need to be put in the trunk of that car and the car in a crusher.
How can your heart go out to a mom like that? The kids were in the trunk of a car and unfed while they did drugs and speeding in their car. Who in the eff's heart can go out to someone like that?
Â
@swansong68 If you refer to the trooper, he was expressing his feelings about the kids- not their mom. His heart went out to them because they missed their mom. They miss her and they love her because they do not know anything else.
This is what twisted brains on drugs think up.... I'm sure it all made perfect sense to them at the time. Can you imagine how scared those kids were? Horrible.
Â
Nice catch troopers, but where are the mugshots of these two?
Snohomish County Judge Michael T Downes gave her custody of her kids. She was divorced in 12-05-2011. Time to get rid of a judge.
@Charlie Mukilteo We do not know the circumstances of the divorce and maybe, she was clean at that time....doubt it, but if she had no criminal record, then perhaps he made the correct decision based upon the evidence at that time. She should NEVER have them again after this incident.
@Charlie Mukilteo Of course then you wonder what the father may have been like if she was considered the better parent.Â
@DT No I don't wonder, because I know how judges are in this state.
Gee, maybe they will make bail in time to vote...
I hope the kids and pup find a loving home. There is no excuse for that type of behavior, especially from the person who is supposed to care for them and keep them safe.
Good thing they were not pulled over by a DUI WASP officer! That would have be confusion....
And so many posters here think the drug culture is so awesome. First responders and hospital staff have to see the fallout of these kinds of people all the time.Â
@Citizen#3457899654 Plenty of people cannot responsibly consume alcohol. Being responsible and moderate are things one practices if they wish to have a decent life.
Every time I think I have seen or heard of the rotten nature of people they come up with a new disgusting way to keep me from saying "I've seen it all" Some people just shouldn't get any oxygen.
make sure she never sees her kids again, cps!
Thought weed made you go 20 in a 60 zone.
Good for the kids they are out of 'parental' custody.
@T-Prop pretty sure her problems involve all the harder drugs found in that car too, and quite likely alcohol. Weed alone is not nearly as intoxicating as alcohol alone, but add in the meth and heroin found in her car and you've got a recipe for crazy.
@T-Prop The meth and heroin probably contributed more to the idiotic driving than the weed did. Sadly, I can't blame any of the drug use for the appalling decision to have the children and dog shoved in the trunk for hours on end not to mention during the idiotic driving.Â
Â
We can only blame that on her being utterly devoid of character, responsibility, common sense, decency or even a shred of self-respect. You're absolutely right the kids and dog are much better off with a safe, loving family than they are with these two losers.Â
@T-Prop These here individuals were down for whatever kind of drugs they could get their hands on... Â
I know we can't forcibly sterilize people, but in some cases it truly seems justified and necessary. Poor kids and dog, I hope they are all placed in stable loving environments and that they can stay together. As for the 2 geniuses who put them in the trunk, I would be happy if they were tossed into a deep hole and forgotten about.
 @alaska_dreamin Look up Eugenics...
There is a special place in hell for those kind of people....
I just can't believe that some people are so effin stupid........wait a minute, yes I can.
@TreeTopFlyer You nailed it. This is stupid in action. Kids are way too important to shove in the trunk, and far to valuable to trade in for "partying" with your boyfriend. (off topic: love that song you're named after- live version is incredible).
