Vancouver teen guilty of burglary, slashing tires, damaging cars
VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) - A Vancouver teenager accused of slashing the tires of at least seven vehicles and tagging at least 21 other cars has pleaded guilty to his November crime spree.
The Vancouver Columbia reports (http://is.gd/Iuki5r ) 15-year-old Ryan J. Rodriguez pleaded guilty Friday to second-degree burglary and two counts of second-degree malicious mischief in exchange for the reduced charges.
Rodriguez was also suspected of smashing in church and business vans, burglarizing a motorcycle shop and shoplifting at a convenience store in a span of seven days.
Jeff Olsen, the juvenile court's victim impact program coordinator says the crimes affected at least 30 victims, though more victims may still be unidentified.
Rodriguez was sentenced Friday in Clark County Juvenile Court to 340 days in confinement for a property crime spree in November. The sentence includes 60 days in juvenile detention and 280 days in a juvenile institution, where more services are offered. He will receive credit for 77 days he's already served.

I'm thinking the little bugger can perform community service till he's oh, around EIGHTY years old...
That's a lot of damage if you think about it. Somethings up with him. Usually a kid may vandalize one place/one thing or two.
Â
And from what I've heard from kids, you learn more bad stuff in Juvie and meet up with kids who'll teach you even worse things. I doubt it's going to deter him in the future by any stretch of anyone's imagination.
Mediocre penalty for maximum damage. Â
In persepective, no matter the crime the penalty increasingly does not match the crime.
Keep your crime in Canada hockey head!
 @JD Huh?
Execution by hanging seems like an appropriate punishment.
I hope he'll change and not continue the life of a thug. If he doesn't he'll work out his own misery along the way. No one likes deviants.
Letâs see, tires are anywhere from 50 to 200 and it was 7 cars, so thatâs anywhere from 7 to 28 tires for a cost range of 350.00 to 5,600.00, and 21 paint jobs or paint removals, (if possible)â¦.
Â
And the kid gets eleven months and doesnât have to pay anything⦠yep, he done learned his lessonâ¦â¦ as the State offers him 'more services'.....
Â
Meanwhile, insurance rates climb again and still.
 @dome200q I wonder if the victims can sue his parents.
Anybody can sue anybody. The question is if it's worth your time and trouble. Not to mention that even if they win it doesn't mean they will be able to collect...IF the parents have to funds. My lawyer stole 20K from us, and we were awarded 12K thru the courts, but probably will never see a penny after he gets out of jail. Such is life.
 @dome200q Similar thing happened to my parents. They sued a contractor who built a rockery improperly despite my father's reservations on product. 1st rain the boulders all washed down their steep driveway. They successfully sued and got a lien.
And we wonder why there is so much crime. There is no punishment. Someone out ther must know....what is the max he could have gotten?
Reduced sentence huh? Wow,glad they weren't to hard on this young man. What is the deterent if he gets off so easy? They need to take these kids and put them doing something that would earn minimum wage and make them pay back the damages with no release until every dime is paid back.
 @Jatok That is a great idea! He should have to WORK to pay off every single cent to fully restore what they damaged. Only then is there any chance of him having some small amount of victim awareness. Plus, it's not insurance companies having to cough up the funds. Not to mention the insurance companies will either drop the customers or hike their premiums anyhow.
Wow 60 days in jail. Now that will sure teach the little waste. He should be forced to work and pay the cost of all the damage he caused.
 @Alex Clayton I don't believe he'll go to jail. He'll be put in Juvie or a half-way-house for teens. I did an internship in college at one in Oregon. There were kids (teens) in there for anything from arson, runaways, theft to assault.
 @Thunder  @Alex ClaytonÂ
That's what I'm talking about. He will do a couple months in the juvi jail. Mean while the people who are out money get nothing and the little waste will have a great laugh about this.
What about restitution?Â
Hope he enjoys his time. I'm sure he'll find much better things to do to occupy his time since he clearly has nothing better to do.
