Vandals slash tires on more than 100 cars in Marysville

MARYSVILLE, Wash. -- Police in Marysville say vandals slashed tires on more than 140 vehicles in central Marysville early Friday.
With many people still waking up to start their day, police Commander Rob Lamoureux said the number of victims could increase as more damage is discovered.
Dean Vadset found two tires on his company van completely flat when he left his house near the intersection of 54th Avenue NE and 95th PL NE.
"I've got to go to work every day. Somebody walking through on a joyride or whatever decided to slice a path of destruction," he said.
Police officers who went through the area overnight left a business card on his windshield with a case number.
Vadset said it will likely cost several hundred dollars to cover the damage.
"(The vandals) went into the sidewall with a sharp, flat object, which means you can't patch the tires," he said. "You just have to buy all new tires."
Lamoureux said police do not have any suspects and he urged anyone with information to contact investigators.
"With the increased use of residential security cameras we are asking for folks to review their video footage for any suspicious activity that may have been captured," he said in a news released.

I agree, teach your kids!!! http://www.airsplat.com/airsoft-safety.htm
Parents teach your children well!
I won't hesitate to put a bullet in them.
Yes, he was damaging my property.
Yes, he was armed.
Yes, what I did was legal.
No, I'm not sorry.
See you at the funeral.
Maybe local tire shop employees looking to generate more business...........

@n9078jk4 How exactly will requiring extra driving around, and calling tow-trucks or repair services, obtaining extra alternative transport, buying more tires, disposal of flats, etc, somehow magically reduce CO2?
I sure hope they catch these SOB's!!

Over 100 cars? A persistent bunch. Most scum would have grown tired and given up after 20 or 30 cars at most.Â
@KH They were probably on meth or speed to have the energy to do that many.

if thats the best quote you can get why bother?

@Willie69 You Obama haters will use anything to slam him.
Â
Get over it... Obama won. Start expanding your myopic horizons to solve our problems. Not everything is cause by greedy unions, illegal immigrants and bloated government as you want us to believe.
Â
@Poisonous Giraffe  @Willie69 TO quote Malcolm Reynolds (firefly) "May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one"
@Poisonous Giraffe  @Willie69 You're only argument is that he won, not that he is the best thing for the country.

Reading is fun: My counter-argument is very clearly stated in the first sentence of my post.
This story reminds me of when as a kid growing up in West Seattle we would walk to school. One frosty morning walking along a ditch beside a row of parked cars we spied a pair of frost covered legs poking out of the ditch. This was in 1970 mind you. Needless to say it was quite shocking to find a dead body on the way to school. Turns out one of our neighbors caught a guy siphoning gas from his truck and shot at him, he thought he had missed, but he didn't, the would be thief bled out all alone on a very chilly night in a shallow ditch. Life lost over a few gallons of gas. I hope they catch the persons, person responsible for this before it ends the same way. ( oh and bye the way my neighbor was not charged )
My sympathy for the victims. I hope the police catch the POS. I wouldn't feel sorry one bit to see the scum of society, the taggers and tire slashers getting shot at once in awhile.
Both my husband and I had are tires slashed because of the punks. 2 on my care and 1 on his. I hope they catch these people...it cost us over $300 to replace our tires!
Stupid kids, I really hope they are caught and have to sit in jail during Christmas. I know kids love Christmas and I think that if it was taken from them, due to their own dumb a** games. They may just learn a lesson. We got to take away stuff they like and have them miss it before they can appreciate anything or anyone.
Bored, neglected kids. they WILL be caught and hopefully their PARENTS will end up paying for damages.
Â
The justice system is not going to teach these kids anything. It's PARENTS that need to do the teaching - they're far more effective.
And if they don't... they need to PAYING for it. Have the parents pay for the damages, and they WILL find a way to teach Johnny that this was a bad thing to do.Cheaper for the taxpayers, too.
@DrugFighter ...one can only HOPE that those who are responsible are nabbed. This type of crime is a hard nut to crack because the only evidence is the damage caused. I've been a victim to this type of tire-slashing rampage too. The only hope we may have in catching the perps, is if one (or more) brags about what they did and perhaps someone that overhears the bragging does the right thing and report it to the police. Ears to the ground, eyes wide open.
Nobody died here. Geeze. Tires are replaceable. If the rich paid more in taxes this would end. That and a 5-day waiting period on knives would simply end this crisis. There, I feel better about myself. (sarcasm off).
@Troglidite Love your sarcasm! At first I was a little taken aback, but when I saw you were being a smart aleck it made me chuckle! LOL!!
@Troglidite Yep, the reason that this person slashed tires totally has to do with the rich not being taxed more, your logic is outstanding.
@Troglidite Epic troll job man, hope you feel better
Dear Vandals, I live in Marysville, and I have a slow weekend planned. I'd like to invite you to come over to MY house, and try to ruin my tires. I have a new Louisville Slugger I'm just DYING to try out, and the weather has been too crappy for baseball. Step up to the plate numbnuts. I'll be waiting.
That's some funny stuff Wolfen thanks for the laugh on Friday. LOL!!!!!!!
I'd be willing to bet Wolfen wasn't trying to be funny. The best way to avoid being shot where I live, North of Arlington, is to leave everything I've worked for, for 50 years, alone! No joke.
Â
I would have think about what gun to use on this or these pieces of crap. My .44mag or 12 gauge. Either one would do.
@Thepriest Wow. Is your .44mag or 12 gauge associated with some unsolved crime? You can tell me. I won't tell anyone.
@Thepriest
Stupidity should hurt
12 gauge + rock salt = ouch!
@Thepriest
WOW REALLY A GUN?? These are most likely kids, and kids make mistakes and tires are replaceable!!  YOU DONâT DESERVE TO HAVE A GUN if you cannot understand itâs only for use when your life is in danger. You donât just go around shooting people for stupid stuff. You give us responsible gun owners a bad name!!
@SchönLicht  @Thepriest I'd admit I wouldn't kill anyone over tires, but I'd scare them enough to restore their faith in God. I can shoot at the ground and not miss that.  The first time, It was a car battery they stole, second time it was the tools from my truck, third time it was $3-4,000 worth of car parts from my garage, the Fourth time it was the spare tire which they cut the chain to on my truck, the fifth time, it was spray paint on my garage.....What should I leave out next time to let them steal and leave? My gas grill with a grenade taped to it?
@Xirxious  @SchönLicht  @Thepriest Sounds like you need a security system with cameras installed ASAP.
@SchönLicht ...If the tire slasher came at me with the knife he/she was using to do the deed, I would be fearful of my life and would have no choice but to impose an appropriate response. Note that some of the rigs are parked in the owners driveways, which means that the perps are trespassing too, same as if they were inside your home. The punks that did this last night are very very lucky.
Actually in Washington state if they are in your yard it is not the same as in your house, You as the homeowner have a available retreat into the safety of your home, as such, there is more burden on you to prove your life was in danger if you are to dispatch a perp on your property/yard, than there is if they're actually in your house. Once they enter your premise all bet's are off.
@SchönLicht ... yes indeed to hold them until the cops arrive is certainly the best approach. Shooting someone who is attacking you is one thing and shooting them in the back as they are running away or otherwise not an immediate threat is another...and not the right move.  I hope that I am never faced with a scenario that rises to that level. **facepalm**Â
@TreeTopFlyer
And I agree mistake is an inaccurate use of a word. This is pure vandalism. But my alarm here is that people think itâs OK to run after someone with a gun and shoot them for property damage. You cannot take back a moment where you shoot and kill someone.
And yes I am a parent, but one who holds my kid accountable, checks up on them constantly and knows where they are at all times. My kid wonât be one that you read about on the news. We have weapons in our household, all family members are trained by a professional including my kids, first and foremost for safety and proper situational use of a firearm. What these people suggest is murder which is immoral and against the law!! Murder is a crime way worse than the crime of vandalism.
I do hope these vandals are caught and that these acts catch up with them.
And⦠YES if they came at you with a knife you would be within your rights to protect your life! If they came at me with a knife I would feel within my rights to shoot them as I would be in fear of losing my life! But if they slashed my tires, I would not shoot them, the only appropriate use of a gun would be to  hold them for the police to come take into custody.
Â
 @ThepriestÂ
Kids make mistakes??? Â A mistake is forgetting to lock your bike. Â Slashing tires on 100+ vehicles is not a mistake; it is wanton destruction. Â Please tell me you are not a parent.Â
@Tim Lane @Thepriest I never suggested they were to be handled lightly once caught. Guns are NOT TOYS!! And DEATH is not a deserved sentence for vandalism. They DESERVE to be caught, punished and made to pay full restitution, to the full extent of the law!! The parents also need to be held accountable for their inability to keep their children in check butâ¦.NO ONE Deserves to die for a stupid act like vandalism! My pont is at what he suggested is too extreme and does not fit the crime.
@SchönLicht Oh, let me guess you're one of the vandals. Personally when they catch them, I think they should make them work and pay for the crime. If we started doing that more than maybe we wouldn't have "kids doing this." Your attitude only encourages them rather than them learning what they did was wrong.
I'd like to see you explain that one to a judge, Washington law is very clear on when you can use lethal force as a gun owner, as a real responsible gun owner I know that I cannot legally (though I may want to really bad) shoot someone for say slashing my tires or stealing my christmas decorations.Â
Â
In Washington as a gun owner you are only allowed to use your weapon to protect your own life if you do not have an adequate means of escape, or to prevent the commital of felony.
Â
From one gun owner to the other you may want to go pick up the state handbooks and read up on the law's before you one day find yourself in a jail cell for manslaughter or murder my friend.
@Poisonous Giraffe  @SchönLicht May bee just may bee it is a little harsh but the system will do nothing to them. Kids are doing more evil things because they are not dealt with properly. Telling them that it was a bad thing to do and take away their XBOX isn't going to send kids the needed message. DON'T do things to other people or you will get harshly punished. And as for other people's comments that their parent should pay for new tires is stupid. how is that going to teach kids the right message. So if I do something bad then my parents will have to pay, not me. NICE! My option is still on the table.
@Thepriest  @SchönLicht Well.. You have certainly sent a strong message that you're an 1d10t. Does tire slashing equate to a threat to one's life?
Â
...maybe in Bizarro world but not here.. on planet earth.
Â
@SchönLicht Yes I am a responsible gun owner. If you step on to my property and start doing stupid stuff then you deserve what you get. Slashing 100 tires isn't just being a turd. Somebody has a real problem. If you don't want to get shot, then don't destroy peoples stuff. If you have kids you probably have never disciplned them before. Start sending a message to people.
Â
Â
So I must be a vandal because I suggest that guns should not enter this equation?? I never suggested they were to be handled lightly once caught. What you suggest is too extreme and does not fit the crime. What you suggest says you are out of control and a part of the overall societal problem! I am not a vandal, nor do I condone vandalism, I am just not a freak who will run after someone with my gun for property damage!!Â
Start by interviewing the employees at Les Schwabb.
I was also thinking that they and the towing companies were in on this! lol
If I saw some punk kid slashing my tires I would slash his d*** off.
Another senseless attack on the working class probably perpetuated by a jerk that lives in momma's basement..... Die slowly scumbag!
@Funky-Munky The young people who still live with their parents are judged by people like you to be friendless loners, and now you have a bunch of them getting together, probably drunk, and slashing car tires. which I guess is a sort of camaraderie.Â
Â
So, which is going to be? Friendless loners or destructive bands of hoodlums? Â
Why?
