SEATTLE -- Seattle police have arrested a man suspected of kidnapping his one-month-old daughter and threatening to kill the child’s mother, officials said.

Eric Carney, 39, was arrested at a Capitol Hill apartment building just after 5 p.m. Tuesday. His infant daughter was also there and was unharmed.

Police say Carney approached his daughter's mother in the 5200 block of 15th Ave. NE just before noon, threatened her and then grabbed her stroller with the daughter inside.

The mother tried to grab the stroller back, but Carney ran off, police said.

Police say Carney has a history of violent crimes, auto theft and animal cruelty and the mother had a no contact order against him.

Seattle police say an Amber Alert was not issued because there was no car associated with the crime.
