WSP: Woman killed in head-on crash on Hwy. 410

BUCKLEY, Wash. - A 56-year-old Sumner woman was killed Saturday in a head-on crash on Highway 410 near Buckley, the Washington State Patrol reported.
State troopers responded to the scene at about 1:15 p.m. Saturday after receiving reports of a serious crash involving two vehicles.
A preliminary investigation found that the woman, identified as Pamela C. Bone, 56, of Sumner was heading west in a 1991 Nissan Sentra when she crossed the center line into the eastbound lane of the highway.
She crashed head-on into a 2000 Ford F250 pickup approaching from the opposite direction.
The pickup rolled over once and came to rest on its wheels. The Nissan came to rest in the westbound lane.
Pamela Bone was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup, a 62-year-old Bonney Lake man, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Alcohol or drugs were not a factor in the collision. It was not immediately known why the woman's car crossed the center line.

Pamela was an awesome, caring woman. All of us at 1st Security Bank in Puyallup will miss her. She was loved by us all. Pamela, may you rest in peace. To the family, you will be in my thoughts and prayers as you go through this tragic time.
Condolences to the family and friends. RIP. Speedy recovery to the driver of the truck.
You were an awesome gal - Rest in peace Pam - You and your family are in my prayers...
A lot of people drive that stretch over the fog line just to avoid the centerline. Scary for pedestrians.

@james dandey You're taking paranoid to new levels.
@james dandey what are you smoking? whatever it is you need to stop.
Actually it looks like this accident happened where two lanes merge into one which is fairly new. Maybe she got confused. Or maybe someone in the right lane tried to get ahead of her as it merged and she swerved to avoid them. Drivers on 410 are notorious for doing that. I have almost been run out of my lane several times by drivers doing that. It has improved a lot since they extended the two lanes but it still happens and it is extremely dangerous.
agh. that wreck is scary just to look at.... very suprised the truck driver wasn't killed also.
Â
such a beautiful day yesterday, too.
@SwampThing Well, the truck has probably at least at 2/1 weight advantage over the nissan, plus a much higher ride height. Little Nissans of that era are pretty small. I'll take my 1500 RAM any day if push comes to shove.
I never knew a more adamant woman about NOT driving and texting, than Pam. She wouldn't even answer her phone to take a call or answer a text unless she pulled over. She was always reminding her children and grandchildren not to text while driving as well, so don't assume something you don't know. It has already been determined there were no drugs or alcohol involved either. I do know for a fact that she did have a medical condition, but whether or not that was a factor I don't know. We may never know for sure. I do know she was a loving mother and grandmother. She would do anything she could to help someone in need even if it meant she'd go without. The thing to remember is that this is a tragedy and my prayers go out to her family. May God comfort you and bring you peace in your time of sorrow and may you also receive comfort in the memories of your loved one. Prayers also go out to the driver of the other vehicle.
Pam was a loving mother and grandmother. She was a second mom to many kids. She was a godly woman who didn't have much but would give the little bit she did have to you if you needed it. This is a huge loss for many. We will always love her. She would want us all to pray for the person in the truck that she hit. So are prayers go out to you and your family. Sometimes god has plans for us beyond our control. We all love you mom.
Nobody knows what really happened. Â Nearly all of us have done something stupid behind the wheel and by the grace of God we are still here to deny it. Â God be with the family of the deceased and bring complete healing to the survivors and those that stand by their side(s).
Maybe she had a medical situation, armchair detectives. We don't know if she had a heart attack, stroke, was texting, going to fast, diabetic, etc.
And I even annoyed myself by typing "to".
Man, I was riding my motorcycle right there just before that happened; I decided to pull off into the fred meyer to get some new earbuds. I remember seeing the cops drive by super fast right when i came out of the fred meyer, Â I am so glad I did, that could have been me.
 @northwestsurfer God is good
 @makeadifference How can you say something so callous. You're implying that God saved one person over another. Get bent.Â
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh texting???
 @reelin21 were you there?
That 21 year old Sentra didn't have a chance versus a latest generation 3/4 ton Ford pickup.
A head on crash can happen so fast. It's so important to pay attention especially on undivided highways.
Â
Drive defensively and all that jazz.
Â
Hope the truck driver recovers ok. I bet he's glad he was driving a pick-up instead of some smart car or small vehicle.
I'm surprised the pickup guy made it out alive either. Â The top of that truck doesn't look so well. Â Maybe she had the sun in her eyes?
Sun in her eyes at 1 in the afternoon?
 @HonkeyCat I knew  her  she was  kind,  safe driver, no phone talking or texting,  The  sun was  bright  and it  can  affect your  eyes and  make  you  squint or hard  to see if  you have sensitive eyes.  you need  to be more sensitive,  you would if this  was  your friend, mother, aunt, grandmother!
Well, Â someone said there could be some texting goin on, Â but apparently if there was, it was the women. Â
In any event, Â speed was probably a factor as people tend to go way too fast these days. Â Â
 @None The  cops would of  found the phone and the texting,  you  do  realize her family  can see you  rude and insensitive post.  get  real  unless  you  were there  you  should  hush up.
 @None Everything about your comment was senseless, except the speed part. How can you lay any blame here. Something might have happened to her medically, or her car might have had some issue. Whatever happened, this is so tragic. Try really hard to think of loved ones of the victim before you post your heartless comments.
She probably--since I drive that stretch often--had to swerve to avoid someone who decided to turn right at the last minute. The entire road needs to be 45 mph. It's got skid marks all over the place from high speed stops. My condolences to that poor woman.
 @chandler her  family an friends thank you  for  your caring comment.
 @chandler I live right near there and drive that stretch of 410 daily. No turns in this particular spot, but I know what you mean. People drive well over the posted 55 mph and I've witnessed many near crashes due to people tailgating and/or stopping too quickly to turn.Â
@chandler I agree about the speed limit but there are no turns near enough to that particular stretch of 410 so I doubt that was the case here. I can recall so many deaths on this road between Mundy Loss and 214th. Most alcohol related. It's scary and sad.Â
I don't mean to say that alcohol was involved here. It's just that I can't think of any of fatality accidents on that stretch of highway where alcohol was not involved.
There are a limited number of reasons why one would veer into oncoming traffic in the early afternoon. Condolences to the victim and her family. Hope for speedy recovery of the pickup driver.
I hope the relatives have all been notified, seems a little early to be posting her name.Â
 @Asa they were
Oh no.... so sad. Â I have friends that live out that direction. Â This could have easily happened to one of them.
Â
Prayers to all family members and friends of the victims.
Too many people die on this road, we need to extend that divider the whole stretch of 410!My condolences to the familyÂ
I hate that stretch of 410. Very tragic day for those families.
