Wandering Seattle goat, er, sheep back with owner
SEATTLE (AP) - This animal story has a happy ending, even if it did leave Seattle police feeling sheepish - and cleaning up a big mess in the back of a patrol car.
Police spokesman Jonah Spangenthal-Lee conceded Wednesday that police provided what he called "some baaaaaaahd information" when they identified the critter found wandering a Seattle neighborhood as a goat.
The Seattle Animal Shelter's Don Baxter says the full-sized male animal with curved horns is actually a sheep - and has been reunited with its owner.
Baxter says the owner lives outside Seattle and had asked a south Seattle friend to watch the sheep, but the animal escaped from a yard. An officer on patrol Sunday morning spotted the wanderer. The sheep was loaded into a patrol car and taken to the shelter.
The sheep owner collected the animal Wednesday, paying an impound and microchipping fee of about $75.
