SEATTLE -- The city's recent stretch of warm weather has been a boon for sun worshipers, but it's also offering a much-needed boost to hundreds of small businesses.

At the Singh Family Concession Stand at Golden Gardens, the warm weather has meant a spike in ice cream sales.

"It's a nice day," said Renu Singh. "I am lucky that I have this spot."

John Meyer agrees. His paddleboard and kayak rental business has improved dramatically since the weather took a turn for the better. He said he rented 500 units on Friday alone.

"Fifth of July is when it starts usually. I hate to say it," Meyer said.

Even painters like Tony Vinnela are taking advantage of the summer rays.

"I can't get enough sun. I could be dark brown and I'd be happy," Vinnela said.

With temperatures expected to continue climbing, the plan for many local business owners is to keep staffing levels high and get every dollar they can before the rain comes back.
