Woman, 71, killed in White Center house fire

WHITE CENTER, Wash. - A 71-year-old woman was found dead Saturday evening after a house fire in White Center, officials said.

Crews responded to the blaze, in the 9800 block of 28th Avenue SW, at about 5 p.m. after receiving a 911 call from a neighbor.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames and found the woman's body inside the bathroom.

Fire officials said it appears the fire started in the living room, but it was not immediately clear what caused the blaze or how the woman died.

No one else was in the home at the time of the blaze, and no other homes in the area were threatened, officials said.
