Woman arrested after police shooting, chase in Tukwila

TUKWILA -- A 29-year-old Seattle woman was arrested after leading police on a high-speed chase and trying to run over an officer on Sunday.

Sgt. Mark Dunlap said the incident began about 3:50 p.m. when a Tukwila police officer spotted a stolen pickup in the 14600 block of Tukwila International Boulevard.

The officer pulled behind the truck and the woman who was driving pulled into a motel parking lot where she refused the officer's commands to get out of the truck, Dunlap said.

At one point the woman tried to run over the officer, prompting the officer to open fire, Dunlap said.

The woman sped off in the truck and officers were chasing her north on Tukwila International Boulevard when she lost control of the truck and crashed into a car.

The woman ran from the scene but was quickly captured. She was taken to Valley Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries.

It was not clear if she was hit by any of the shots fired by the officer.

A passenger who was in the stolen truck was not hurt and was being questioned by police.

The officer who fired at the woman was placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure any time an officer fires a weapon in the line of duty.

The woman who was driving the stolen truck was expected to be booked into jail after she is released from the hospital.
