Yakima police civilian employee accused of theft
YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) - The Yakima Police Department has fired a civilian employee accused of skimming $5,500 from funds received for electronic home monitoring services.
The Yakima Herald-Republic reports an audit discovered the money was missing. Yakima County prosecutors are deciding whether to file a felony theft charge.
The employee was fired in September.

If they have evidence that "the employee" stole the money, which I presume they do since that's apparently what prompted the firing, then why would they NOT file charges?
I agree with you. Not only file charges but file a civil suit to pay for reimbursement of the money plus the legal fees.Â
 @katiemcc it's expensive, plus there is always a risk that the case fails for procedural reasons etc.
