Bill Gates, founder of The Microsoft Corp., breaks with tradition by wearing an open neck shirt during a ceremony at Britain's Cambridge University.
LONDON (AP) - Billionaire Bill Gates has picked up an honorary degree from Britain's Cambridge University.
The university bestowed degrees on both the Microsoft founder and his wife, Melinda, on Friday.
Both head the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which donates money to global health and development initiatives as well as education programs in the United States.
Cambridge made Gates a doctor of law, the same degree given to his wife. They previously helped set up a fund to help pay for overseas graduate students to attend the university.
