Ecuadorean ambassador: Assange has lung infection

QUITO, Ecuador (AP) - Ecuador's ambassador to Britain says WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has developed a chronic lung infection and requires constant medical attention at his refuge in the Ecuadorean Embassy in London.
Ambassador Ana Alban made the comment to reporters in the Ecuadorean capital of Quito on Wednesday without offering further details.
Assange took refuge in Ecuador's London embassy on June 19 after unsuccessfully fighting extradition from Britain to Sweden for questioning on sexual assault charges filed by two women. Ecuador later granted him asylum.
Alban says Ecuador is covering Assange's medical costs and continues to seek his safe passage out of Britain. British authorities have refused.
Assange gained fame for publishing online the biggest trove ever of sensitive documents, U.S. diplomatic cables and military files from the U.S. and Afghan wars.

I hear that they have very good hospitals in Britain...
i am surprised how little support he gets from the land of the "free" - maybe not so free after all
 @Komo Dragon
He's not Ghandi, he's not Dr. Martin Luther King and he ain't Spartacus.
Â
He's just a twit with a website who published stolen Top Secret documents. Am I supposed to be impressed by this guy?
I couldnât happen to a better guy. Perhaps they should let the doctors in Sweden treat him. As for Ecuador, I guess sexual assault is ok there. Â
What does this have to do with the price of ink for my printer?
Â
I had chronic lung infections for years as a child. So what?
Forgive me if I'm not shedding any tears here...
Does Asange have full access to the topless note taking tart as well?
 @Headwrench She's not topless, look closer.
@jcman I'm sure you can agree it's not professional attire- unless she's a hooker.
 @Headwrench  @jcman Define "professional attire." In the office you see plenty of short skirts and plunging neck lines. Your view of how a woman "should look" is typical insecure male chauvinism.
Someone just needs to smuggle him out and move him to Ecuador.
@Blindman.... Go ahead
