NJ students sickened by Bob Marley drink at school
HOLMDEL TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - Officials have removed a relaxation drink named after reggae icon Bob Marley after several students at a New Jersey school were sickened.
Marley's Mellow Mood is promoted to reduce stress. The drink's nutrition facts say it may cause drowsiness and is not intended for children.
However, students at Satz Middle School and Holmdel High School could buy it on campus. Several middle school students were sickened on Friday.
The Asbury Park Press reports the school district's food service provider has removed a manager pending an investigation. Chartwells School Dining Services also has removed the Marley product.
The company issued a statement in which it said it takes this situation very seriously.
It's unclear what the students' symptoms were.

For many schools it's as much a business as an education. Long term contracts with soda and snack companies, ads for clothing, cell phones and shoes brands guaranteeing they have exclusive access to the students and barring competitors products and ads. The schools them self probably do not even know what it being sold or marketed, they vendors come in before and after school and put in what they wants the kids to see and buy.

I went to West Seattle HS in the early 90's, we all had to watch a 10 minute rehash of the national news, covering things we already knew about, but we also had to watch the 2 commercial segments that went it. The staff was banned from recording the program and removing or skipping the ads.
Some schools have banned pop however a drink like this is acceptable? Whose the idiot who thought that was ok?
Definitely a boo-boo on the part of whomever allowed the drinks to be stocked and sold in schools. I'd call that a major oversight.
