Grizzly bear attacks woman in Alaska
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - A 21-year-old Utah woman was attacked by a grizzly bear about 25 yards from a lodge.

The attack happened late Wednesday as Abby Sisk returned to the Kenai Princess Lodge in Cooper Landing from a hike.

Alaska State Troopers spokeswoman Beth Ipsen says a guest at the lodge saw the bear on top of the woman and ran outside to help. Ipsen says he was able to scare the bear off.

Sisk was taken to a nearby hospital and then transferred to Anchorage. Ipsen says Sisk was under going emergency surgery Thursday morning.

Her condition and hometown were not immediately available.

Cooper Landing is about 50 miles southwest of Anchorage on the Kenai Peninsula.
