Russian woman attacked by wolf, axes it to death

MAKHACHKALA, Russia (AP) - Beware of 56-year-old Russian women with axes.
A lone wolf attacked Aishat Maksudova outside her sister's home in Russia's province of Dagestan in the North Caucasus Mountains.
The animal bit the farmer on her arm and her leg and she fell to the ground, crying out for help from other villagers. No one was in earshot. So she reached for an ax she had brought along to repair a fence, and with remarkable aplomb, she hit the wolf over the head several times until his teeth unclenched.
The wolf later died.
Maksudova has become a hero in the Caspian Sea province that lies east of Chechnya. She was still being treated for her wounds Tuesday at a local hospital after last week's incident. Doctors said she is recuperating well.

Not long and we will be seeing this in WA, ID, MT, and WY. Anyone who is against controlling wolf populations in the northwest should take heed to this article.Â
This POOR woman.......P.E.T.A. is organizing a goon squad as we speak to go plaster this poor lady's house with hummus and tofu.
@Wolfen You are very cruel and heartless! How can innocent chick peas, lemons, garlic cloves and soybeans defend themselves?
They are utterly defenseless, with no limbs to fight with or wings to escape with, and you evil, twisted vegetarians insist on bullying them instead of choosing much larger, stronger and sharp-toothed livestock who actually might have a chance up against your cruelty and tyranny!
Â
We won't even talk about what they do to defenseless olives â they even seek out virgins! â to extract the oil from them.Â
Good thing she lives in Russia and not in the United States. Over here she would probably be arrested for killing the wolf.
And now thanks to the emotional and uninformed, coming Soon to Washington (already playing in ID, MT, MI and WY)
What's the take away from this story? The same thing people have been learning for a few hundred years regarding Russians. Don't screw with the Russians.
@MB She's not actually Russian, she is Dagestani, they are people of their own. Dagestan is however a annexed (and reluctant) province of Russia.
Note this story and the stark differences in her result vs the guy who was gored by a goat.
Â
Hungry wolf takes woman down, and she bashes the things head in. The world cheers.
Goat harrsses man and he fends it with a stick and is killed. Somehow its his fault.
Good job. I hope she can keep the fur to make a hat for the harsh winter.
My kind of woman!!!
Red Riding hood has been exposed as false. Clearly Grandma could take care of herself all along. Also, this just in, Hansel and Gretel knew better than to talk to strangers and were both on a low sugar diet.
@andyourpointis The wolf did a little too much huffing and puffing and got a serious case of the munchies, which further blurred his already impaired judgment.
This is just the start of the  worldwide fallout from the passage of I-502 over here; had he only been drinking vodka he would've noticed her axe and her don't-eff-with-me look and chosen an easier target.Â
Â
2 things - correct the spelling in the picture caption ("province"). And eleborate on "The wolf later died." Died HOW, exactly? If the animal was wounded by an old lady swinging an axe at its head (not easy to split wood or skulls while prone) it was no doubt tracked down and dispatched with a shot, in which case it was NOT "axed to death." Honestly, who uses an axe, anyway? Mauling a wolf to death - now THAT makes sense.
@Verticalling Guess you're new here â find a KOMO article without at least a few misspellings, missing words, random name changes, high schoolers' text speak, grossly misleading headlines, inaccurate details, missing important facts and unexplained edits, then we'll really be in awe of you. :^DÂ
@Verticalling Anal much?
This sounds like one of those Vladimir Putin publicity stunts. Â Tough babushka!
Axed him to death? Why not just axe him to leave?
@Verticalling They don't speak "Ebonics" in Russia?
@Verticalling Good question. The reporters should have axed her that:-)
Tough lady! Good for you!
