Argentine woman marries twin's convicted killer

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) - This was a Valentine's Day wedding that the bride's family wanted no part of: An Argentine woman married the man convicted of killing her twin sister.
Neighbors were against it as well. A mob gathered outside the civil registry office where Thursday's wedding took place, throwing stones and eggs.
The bride, 23-year-old Edith Casas, says Victor Cingolani is innocent of killing her twin sister Johana more than two years ago, despite his conviction and 13-year prison sentence. The groom says he is innocent and will be absolved on appeal.
They both want to have children but that will have to wait. Cingolani, 28, was taken back to prison in handcuffs immediately after the nuptials. Edith Casas waited for hours until the crowd dispersed and it was safe to leave.
The bride's mother thinks she's crazy and sought to block the wedding, but a judge found her capable of making her own decisions.
The body of Johana Casas was found in a field in the town of Pico Truncado in southern Santa Cruz province in 2010 with two gunshots in the chest.
Police detained Cingolani, who was Johana's former boyfriend, and Marcos Diaz, a neighbor who was believed to have been her boyfriend at the time of her death. Police later released Diaz, citing a lack of evidence against him.
Cingolani told local station Todo Noticias that his relationship with Edith began after he broke up with Johana, and that he had nothing to do with her death. "All the evidence points to another person."
The mother of the twins, Marcelina del Carmen Orellana, said Thursday that she couldn't understand her daughter's decision.
"I've always said that she is threatened by the Cingolani family; I'm afraid that something might happen to her because he is a killer and a manipulator," she told local media.

Isn't it obvious, she killed her sister!
I'd pay money to get a live view of the family holiday gathering.
Maybe the band "Twisted Sister" will play at the reception? IDK, just a thought...
Sick
@elvisofdallas The best V Day news is always a few days later. Like a reminder that insanity reigns 365!

Look at that girl.....wowzers what a wedding gown that is! can you say gypsy anyone!!!??? LOL
I guess I learned too late in life about what a woman wants. Found this 16th century quote from an insightful fellow
" But I do feel this: that it is better to be rash than timid, for Fortune is a woman, and the man who wants to hold her down must beat and bully her. We see that she yields more often to men of this stripe than to those who come coldly toward her."
I still don't get it.
That poor mother.
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. She is one very smart women or one women who needs help.Â
Does he have conjugal visits in prison?
@VinceJudging from what the article said , he"was taken back to prison in handcuffs immediately after the nuptials." I'd hazard that he won't have conjugal visits.
My oh my, so tell me again, how long is this guys ........ sentence? Â Â ...anyway.
Sheesh - that is what's called desperation!Â
"If anyone present here today knows a reason why this union should not take place, speak now or forever hold your (fire)."
Man, she must be hypnotized by him! Good grief!
guess love IS blind.... AND deaf and dumb and full of.... oh you get the idea
@sunnysandiego You forgot "desperate for a man, any man!" but that's probably assumed when one marries the convicted murderer of their twin.Â
I'm sure her dead Sister would be proud. What a nutcase.
@Shelly People so often lament, "If I knew then what I know now..." which may have been the deceased young woman's last conscious thought.Â
But the surviving sister DOES know going into it what she's signing up for, or at least has some evidence to seriously consider.Â
....and what a skanky "dress"...Â
Well that's going to make for some awkward family gatherings, no matter what way the conviction turns out.
