Boy calls 911 after dad, grandma overdose on heroin
NEW BRIGHTON, Pa. (AP) - Police have charged a man and his mother with endangering a 10-year-old boy who called 911 when they passed out at home while allegedly using heroin.
The Beaver County Times reports police found both adults unresponsive when they arrived Friday evening.
Online court records don't list attorneys for 34-year-old Chad Kiser and 52-year-old Ginger Ray Foust of New Brighton. The boy is Kiser's son and Foust's grandson.
Kiser and Foust were charged with possessing drug paraphernalia and endangering the welfare of the boy, who told police that his grandmother went into the bathroom to help his father after he passed out. The boy told police each adult was trying to help the other battle a drug addiction.
The boy has been placed in county welfare custody.

Terrible.
One time when I was 10 I was at my friends house and his dad came outside and yelled across the street, "Hey Earl what kind of dog is that?" There was no one on the other side of the street.
What shining examples of role models for that boy. Poor kid. He's probably more mature than his dad and grandma.
@Tattooed_Angel2Â at least they weren't shooting the kid up with heroin.
This poor kid. Â Doing the RIGHT thing, while the rest of his family does THE WRONG THING. Â Glad they put him in State custodyÂ
I really expected the dateline to read Oregon on this. Â
generational drug users. Poor kid. I hope he can stay strong enough not to slide into drugs. He's got some really bad influences there.
Grandma got wired?! That just ain't right!
How terrible for the kid. Â Hope he can get into a stable home and doesn't continue the cycle of drug addiction.
The only victim here is that poor kid.  I hope that he is able to get into a stable home and gets the help he needs (i.e counseling, etc.). Â
They didn't overdose, they nodded off. Nice headline AP.
@lakeview All heroin users NOD off.......its part of their HIGH.  You are right.....they did not overdose, they simply nodded off like most addicts do after a fix.Â
@lakeview were you there?
@Lrry*x*K @lakeview  Read the original article. They "passed out" and were "unresponsive."
I would imagine they got a shot of Narcan and were just fine, albeit angry that they were no longer high. Â
@lakeview You seem to know quite a bit about drug use.  Is that why your posts are so crazy and you are so anti-social?  If so, please take more and 'nod off', that way the rest of us can enjoy the board WITHOUT YOU!
@lakeview What is the recommended daily allowance of heroin?
@aintno1special @lakeview Excuse me for not believing all the BS I read from the AP.Â
@lakeview @aintno1special Oh I too take very little confidence in AP articles, but "OD" is a very loose term with a lot of emotional pulling power. Not unlike many other terms the AP uses in it's headlines.
Hey! What about medical heroin and a heroin card! Is that next?
@MonroeMad See, "methadone."
@Getov Mylon @MonroeMad see "suboxone". Â
 Jesus. Please, if you have a drug problem and want help, go talk to a professional or get involved in a support group, or find someone who has successfully gotten past the active-user phase of being a drug addict (like, a couple of years without using, so that a little time has given them perspective on their problem). And if you are a parent who is also a drug user, find a safe environment for your children to be in while you get help. Or at least a safe place for them to stay while you get high and come down, so that they don't have to be around you and be affected by the things you say and do, and how you look and act while you are high. A safe environment is not the house of your mother who also has a drug problem. I really hope these people get help for their drug addictions, because addiction (to drugs or anything else) can be a lifelong problem and a daily battle, even for those who haven't used in years. I also hope fervently that there is some intervention with mental health or behavioral health specialists so that this kid can get the help he needs to be a normal healthy adult, as much as possible. He's already on the right track since he went and called 911 when they needed help.
So sad...hopefully the boy ends up with a family that actually cares and gives him the love and support he needs. He showed his elders more care than they showed him.
