Clinton: Romney claim about Jeep a 'load of bull'

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) — Vice President Joe Biden and former President Bill Clinton have criticized Mitt Romney for saying that Chrysler is shifting production of its Jeep brand autos from Ohio to China.
Jeep, a major employer in Ohio, has said it is adding jobs in China to meet growing demand there but is not halting production in North America.
Campaigning together in the crucial swing state, Clinton said that Jeep has called Romney's claim "the biggest load of bull in the world."
Biden said it was "bizarre."
Clinton, who had been scheduled to appear with President Barack Obama, said Obama was personally offended by Romney's claim. Clinton says Obama's first car was a Jeep.
Obama canceled scheduled appearances with Clinton in Florida and Ohio on Monday, citing Hurricane Sandy.

Perhaps the discussion should shift to the more interesting story on evolution just above at this moment of my not being able to write a comment on a story regarding Romney and his lies not worth a comment:Â "Penis Worms Help Solve Unusual Evolutionary Puzzle."Â Â Maybe such analysis on the evolution on "Penis Worms" could help us explain today's American Political Process that has been nearly flushed down the toilet of Penis Worm reality TV.
Obama the anointed one did nothing even though he claims to have done so much, often using the word "I".
Â
Congress using our money bailed out many businesses. Â Obama is a man in love with power and adulation and gets that confused with leadership. Â He has become quite a class divider and chastises the rich. Â But his supporters are stupid, often ignorant people who refuse to see one very important thing: Â he doesn't spend his time in the ghetto; he doesn't walk the streets of Harlem; he doesn't fly to Jackson, Mississippi to spend time with the poor.
Â
He flies to Beverly Hills; he walks the streets of Bel Air or West Palm Beach; and he flies to the palatial homes of George Clooney or Steven Spielberg.
Â
The guy is a charlatan and you need to step back and ask yourselves why you support a man who says one thing but then lives the opposite?  It has nothing to do with any other candidate.  Just look at this guy, look at his record for adulation.  He will now spend your money to help victims of Sandy  - on every TV show he can get on in the next 7-days and use the word "I" to take credit for it.  "I" did this and "I" did that.  Not we or Americans did this. Â
Â
The anointed one.  You should be angry if not feeling foolish.  Have you ever stepped back and looked at this past year?  I voted for him - but I voted for the guy that said he would not be or become this person.  He will not get my vote this time.
Clinton accusing someone of a load of bull is the equivalent of the pot calling the kettle black! Never was a politician less substantive than "Slick"!
@Russgl2 There is a difference between accusing someone of something and pointing out that something is a load of bull.Â
Suppose Chrysler actually is going to shift building Jeeps to China.
For RR to attempt and tie that to politics --- whiffs of desperation.
Despite the hilarious comments below, Romney is either a liar or gets his talking points from blogs, or both.Â
Â
Chrysler is expanding production of Jeeps here as well, adding jobs to plants. Chrysler released a statement saying Romney was false.  Â

@caphillkid Frankly, I have no problem with GM, Chrysler or anybody else expanding into foreign markets. Of course, The Red Brigade will squeal like Ned Beatty in "Deliverance" should a US company expand not here but in Asia or Russia during President Romney's term.
@Sid Vishess @caphillkid  The words President and Romney together is simply odd sounding. I do believe that we never will have to utter the two together.Â
@plantfann  @Sid I believe that "President Romney" would be considered an oxymoron regardless of the election outcome. But when it comes to being a liar Romney makes Nixon in comparison a patron saint. I have said it before, Democrats today stretch the truth until it is nearly a lie while Republicans simply make up the truth as they go along.
Since Ol Bill and Biden are experts in Bull, maybe they can tell us what REALLY happened in Benghazi......Oh yea, that's right, it was a riot induced by a video that killed four Americans...*wink wink, nudge nudge*Â Seems to me that getting to the actual TRUTH when it comes to politicians is almost impossible no matter WHAT side you're on.
scary quote from you side of things, "we just believe that ethnic and linguistic diversity has weakened the US. Further, we've placed power in the hands of foreigners, who want to change America of it's true identity" -the party that wants to take back "their" country... I've read of this kind of ideology before, it didn't end well.
@Wolfen So....they're building Jeeps in Benghazi?  What's the connection?
Hmmmm regarding Clinton's statement regarding a "Load of Bull" ...  he should know! He is the King of BS.
Â
Clinton: "I did NOT have sexual relations with THAT woman"
..............Blah blah blahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Is there a Caption Contest?
Â
" ...and then Monica said, 'No, smaller!'"
@Sid Vishess You conservatives need to get laid more. You're still fixated on sex that happened in the 90s.Â
 @caphillkid OK, I'll update it!
Â
"...so then she said, 'For  Progressives... maybe... but caphillkid...?'"
Â
Â
so all is forgiven? We should move past what the man is? Slick Willie
I'm thinking both Clinton and Biden know a load of BS when they hear it. They've been spreading enough of it around for the last thirty years to be intimately familiar with it.
DEPORT those Fiats! i've seen them sneaking onto the shore! They must be illegals!
Bull?

@Gino Do you have any links to NON BIASED sources? Just plain old news? Washington Examiner is well known and self described as right wing, owned by a german billionaire who supports republican politicians exclusively, and NLPC self describes itself as "a conservative watch dog"
@Gino Here is the relevant passage from the Bloomberg article about Fiat:
Â
"To counter the severe slump in European sales, Marchionne is considering building Chrysler models in Italy, including Jeeps, for export to North America."
Â
Do you see anything in there about "moving" production?
Â
Mark Modica of the NLPC read that very same sentence, pulled the word "moved" out of his backside, and wrote this, with the Bloomberg article as the supposed source:
Â
"Fiat is now considering moving Chrysler and Jeep production to Italy."
Â
For sheer mendacity, though, I really have to admire Paul Bedard of the Washington Examiner, who took this quote from Bloomberg:
Â
"Fiat SpA, majority owner of Chrysler Group LLC, plans to return Jeep output to China and may eventually make all of its models in that country, according to the head of both automakers' operations in the region."
Â
... and turned it into this:
Â
"In another potential blow for the president's Ohio reelection campaign, Jeep, the rugged brand President Obama once said symbolized American freedom, is considering giving up on the United States and shifting production to China."
Â
To an honest person, reading that Jeep may eventually "make all of its models" in China means that Chinese Jeep manufacturing facilities may eventually produce all of Jeep's models, rather than the smaller selection of models currently envisioned for the Chinese market. Someone like Paul Bedard reads that same text, substitutes the word "cars" for "models," and comes up with an entirely different meaning. Bravo, Mr. Bedard. (slow clap)
Gee, does this sound like that jerk that bought the Sonics???? It has the same ring to it and the same kind of denials that he gave us about moving the team out of here. Fiat now owns the controlling stock of Chrysler and they can do what they wish with and Ohio can go cry in it's beer over it but nothing else. I think I have heard a same line from Boeing as well to get out of the Union strangle hold they have up here. Our government is turning the USA into a third world country with all there back door politics and lies.
@LongBeachBum "Our government is turning the USA into a third world country with all there back door politics and lies."
First you say that Fiat can do as it wishes (because it owns the company)", and then you accuse the "government" of being behind it all...!
Which is it?
Â
Why not....Chevrolet already did?
From an interesting article... "Obama did bail out Chrysler, as the ad says. And as early as 2010, Fiat has been intending to build Jeeps in China, as a ChinaAutoWeb report from 2010 indicated: BAIC-Jeep later evolved into the now-defunct Beijing Benz-Daimler Chrysler company. Ever since the Daimler-Chrysler alliance broke down in 2009, Chrysler has no productions in China. Now that Fiat, Chryslerâs new owner, has officially returned to China and began building factories, there will be Chinese-made Jeep SUVs again in as early as 2014. In a recent interview, John Kett, vice president and CEO of Chryslerâs Asia-Pacific operations, confirmed this, echoing Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionneâs words that Fiat is to have a production capacity of 300,00 units a year in China within five years through its joint venture with GAC (Guangzhou Automobile Group Co.). And Changsha, the capital of Hunan province, will be the location of the production base. Fiat may be the only major automakers that suffered heavy losses in China in recent years. After losing tens of millions US dollars, it stopped partnership with Nanjing Auto, now part of SAIC. It temed up with GAC in late 2009 to give the Chinese market one more try. And just this weekend, Fiat's CEO Sergio Marchionne admitted the company had intentions of building jeeps in Europe as well. According to a Bloomberg News report: To counter the severe slump in European sales, Marchionne is considering building Chrysler models in Italy, including Jeeps, for export to North America. The Italian government is evaluating tax rebates on export goods to help Fiat. Marchionne may announce details of his plan as soon as Oct. 30, the people said. Even the liberal Mother Jones magazine admitted that "technically, every word" of Romney's ad was true. "
@acepaul That article you didn't cite a link for cherry picked all to heck. Here is the truth.
Â
From Mother Jones, with a link:, because your quote seems to be deliberately misleading: "Technically, every word of this is true. Obama did force GMÂ and Chrysler through a managed bankruptcy. Fiat did end up buying Chrysler. And Chrysler is thinking about building Jeeps in China. But remember my three-part test to judge how deceptive a statement is?
What was the speaker trying to imply? What would it take to state things accurately? How much would accuracy damage the speaker's point?
On this scale, Romney's ad rates about 9 out of 10 on the deceptiveness scale. He's obviously trying to imply that American jobs will be shipped overseas; stating things accurately would require wholesale revisions; and doing so would completely destroy Romney's point. But he doesn't care. He's got an election to win, and if scaring Ohio autoworkers is what it takes, then that's what it takes. It's truly nauseating."

Â
The Bloomberg link is easily found. And it's found in this analysis from the Boston Globe: http://www.boston.com/politicalintelligence/2012/10/29/mitt-romney-suggests-auto-jobs-headed-china/e4HBOU7KlC1dWXrNWKiMpK/story.html
Â
"But the car company, Chrysler, says it is merely considering an expansion of Jeep production to China and has no plan to reduce its US workforce. In fact, the company has announced its intent to hire 1,100 additional workers in Detroit"
Â
"Campaigning in Defiance, Ohio last week, Romney launched the auto-oriented attack: âOne of the great manufacturers in this state, Jeep, now owned by the Italians, is thinking of moving all production to China.â
The charge appeared to be a misinterpretation of a Bloomberg News story, which reported last Monday that Fiat, the Turin-based majority owner of Chrysler, âplans to return Jeep output to China and may eventually make all of its models in that country.â The story referred to the companyâs desire to manufacture vehicles locally in its expanding Chinese market, but the phrasing of the reportâs first sentence caused some confusion among other news outlets."
@acepaul By the way, that quote from Romney above, where he lies through his teeth, is captured on video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kgGPVVBKfH0
Just hope they all get to the damn issues, stop attacking each other, and that's
not good for our beautiful country...I am sure everyone is so freaking sick ofÂ
these craps, they all better shape up damn it ! !
Bungalow Bill knows his bull alright.Â
Â
Is he laughing since Biden the mental giant is now calling Ohio Nebraska? Â
Â
Bill is still trying to define the word "is".Â

@rushtules  @pbs7mm I'd keep a MILLION old people over ONE disrespectful little puke like you ANY day. Wishing old people to "die off?" What the hell is WRONG with you?
@pbs7mm your avatar fits you to a T - all hat, no cattle, lotsa hot air...
Even the parent company of Jeep is calling the claim a complete falsehood.
Â
They are opening a factory over there in China - for the CHINESE MARKET. They are not shipping any American production out of this country at all. None. Zero.
Â
Just shows how far these guys will go to try to win. Lies are standard now days.
Â
@FormerMarineSgt Yeah, Now Fiat is talking about moving production to Italy

@Gino  @FormerMarineSgt You need to find a source that is not admittedly biased. Please read my post above in response to AcePaul. It has actual facts.
@FormerMarineSgt Have you noticed that both Romney & Ryan have been talking about "Hope" and "Change" for the past week or so? They are reeking of desperation.
@OrcasThunder  @FormerMarineSgt They say hope and change .After that nothing else left to say ,so Romney has to lie.
@MissBurma  @FormerMarineSgt Keep in mind that last year Romney called Federal disaster aid - which we will be needing a lot of on the East Coast - "immoral"...
Â
"King gave him a chance to back off: âIncluding disaster relief, though?â
Romney didnât blink. âWe cannot afford to do those things without jeopardizing the future for our kids,â he said, adding that âit is simply immoral" .â.â."

Cant wait till the election is over. I have had more than my fill of political wrangling.

@acepaul Even from this agnostic, that deserves an AMEN!
