Embattled GOP Rep. Akin stays in Mo. Senate race
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Embattled GOP Congressman Todd Akin has made good on his promise to stay in Missouri's U.S. Senate race despite calls by top Republicans to quit following his comments about rape.
The final deadline for candidates to remove their names from the Missouri ballot passed Tuesday as Akin began a statewide bus tour. Akin is trying to unseat Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill.
Akin has repeatedly apologized since saying during a television interview in August that women's bodies have ways of averting pregnancy in cases of what he called "legitimate rape."
Top Republicans, including presidential nominee Mitt Romney, have urged him to drop out. He's also lost backing from the national GOP.
But he has the state party's support, and former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich joined Akin at a fundraiser Monday.

In a legitimate senate race, the public has ways of shutting him down.
The GOP thought that they could force him out and he basically said to hell with all of you. This should have been an easy senate pick up seat for Karl Rove and the gang, but now McCaskill is looking good for another term.Â

Right now in the Republican party it is every man and woman for him and herself.Â
Is it any wonder the mainstream media INCLUDING KOMO has lost all credibility? How about a story about "embattled" tax cheat Charles Rangel? Or "embattled" tax cheat Timothy Geitner? Or "embattled" tax cheat Tom Daschle? Or a story on "embattled" Obama and his comments confirming welfare recipients making a good voting bloc? Or a story on "embattled" Obama's remark's regarding redistribution of wealth? Or "embattled" Obama's Middle East policy failures that led to a dead ambassador? Or a story on "embattled" Biden's gaffes? Or why "embattled" Obama had every major world leader in town and met with ZERO of them and instead appeared on the View and declared himself "eye candy?" How about KOMO do it's four letter word J-O-B?

You can apologize all you want. Â The thing here is that we know exactly what you really believe and I hope to God that anyone with a brain will see you for who and what you are. Â I hope to God that they loudly declare that you are unfit to serve anywhere near the seat of government.
