Houston man accused of impregnating 11-year-old

HOUSTON (AP) - A Houston man accused of repeatedly raping an 11-year-old neighbor who became pregnant and gave birth this week.
Deandrea Devon Davis-Williams, 21, was arrested late Tuesday night and charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child. A judge Thursday tripled Davis-Williams' original $50,000 bond and set arraignment for April 23.
Court documents show the attacks occurred almost daily over more than seven months beginning about last June 1.
The girl delivered a healthy child Thursday, Harris County District Attorney's spokeswoman Sara Marie Kinney said Friday.
According to the criminal complaint in the case, the girl's mother received a call from her daughter's school saying school officials believed she was pregnant. When the mother bought a home pregnancy test and explained it to her daughter, the girl began crying and told her about the assaults.
A visit to a doctor confirmed the pregnancy.
The attacks began last summer while the girl's mother was at work and occurred "almost every day when no one was home," police said in the criminal complaint. They continued during the school year when her mother was working two jobs.
The mother told police she confronted Davis-Williams, whom she knows, and he denied any involvement.
Attorney Joe Owmby, appointed to represent Davis-Williams, did not immediately return a call Friday from The Associated Press.
According to the criminal complaint, police have copies of phone text messages in which Davis-Williams asked the girl "why she told on him and told her that he was going to kill himself."
Investigators said they tried unsuccessfully to talk with Davis-Williams and enlisted the girl's mother to arrange a meeting with him but he "did not show up to the appointment."
Court documents describe him as 5 feet 11 inches tall and 115 pounds with no previous criminal record.

Too bad his parents didn't exert as much effort to guiding this man up from childhood as they did in selecting his name.
Maybe she consented. Of course, not legally. Once her mother found out, she screamed rape. Why else would he be texting someone that he's been repeatedly raping for 7 months? If it's easy to say that an 11 year old isn't capable of knowing what's going on and can act in fear, then it should be fairly easy to say that the mother should have been more involved in her life. Maybe if she had asked questions 7 months prior and not after a school notified her, this incident maybe could have been prevented and if not, it sure wouldn't have gone on for this long. As far as the guy goes, he ought to be ashamed of himself because he was too old for her and her mother ought to be ashamed because she was too busy for her. Why would an 11 year old be home alone by herself? I mean, where's her father? Younger girls tend to look to older men for comfort when their father isn't active in their lives. They didn't mention him at all. Just throwing that out there, but overall, SAD!
@ConcernedCitizen This is a 6th grader, dork!  How old are you and still making stupid statements?  Ignorant twit.
@ConcernedCitizen What is the matter with you? She's an 11 year old child, she doesn't have the ability to consent or fight this guy off. Why is it you feel the need to blame the victim, her mother, her father but think the guy "ought to be ashamed of himself"? He's a rapist, pure and simple and it's no one's fault but his. What 21 year old man is interested in an 11 year old girl? He's sick and so is anyone else who thinks any differently.
@justmyopinion @ConcernedCitizen I'm not saying the guy shouldn't be blamed. I'm just saying all other factors should be considered, so that it won't happen again. Everyone is so focused on punishing the guy, but can careless about the little girl. Helping her would not be just seeking justice. Her parents need to take a more active role in her life. You're too focused on my choice of words. It was never meant the way that you interpreted it. "Blame everyone else and he should just be ashamed"? NO! He should be blamed and punished, but her parents need to step up. A child can learn responsibility without enabling him/her to be susceptible to the dangers of the world. I wouldn't dare leave my 11 year old daughter home alone to even allow such a thing to take place. Anyone who leaves their 11 year old home alone while they're working is an unfit parent and so is anyone else who thinks differently. Just my opinion.
@ConcernedCitizen Again we see that anyone with a computer and two brain cells that do not rub together can post mindless dribble for the rest to endure... Sad for (if you have ) children
As I read comments, my second wife was molasted by her dad since she was 12. She was a mess, marriage lasted two months, she ran of with my than unemployed bartender. He family was "strict" Catholic, no one ever knew about that. Her conduct as a child was discussed prior to the divorce by a professional therapist, who came to that conclusion
Sad thing is she didn't report the rape. Too may women don't. Society has taught women that often rape is their fault. I know a woman that was "date raped when she was 15, and again at 19. A straight A student that finally fell apart and dropped out of college.
If we had sex education in the schools and not in the rest rooms, things could change for the better.
@Wolf Nation She is not a woman.  She's an 11 year old child.  The man was in charge and she had no power.  He threatened to kill himself after she told so it makes you wonder what he said he would do before she told her mother.
Yes, kill yourself. That would be perfect. It would save the taxpayers time and money and I wouldn't break a nail ripping your penis off and shoving it down your throat.
That poor mother and child. The mom works 2 jobs for some creep child molester to come and give that family more problems.
This should be an automatic life sentence with no parole. However, knowing the "boys will be boys" attitude of most lawmakers towards rape, I doubt he'll get more than a few years.
@Sutekh At this point we can hope he'll at least get a few weeks.
A filthy excuse for a man. He is a monster. My heart goes out to this child. I hope that the prisoners do unspeakable things to him every day for the rest of his life.Â
This is so disturbing.Â
And they will give him the time to think about what he did that he deserves rather than the light slap on the wrist that he would get here in the NW>
What kind of monster does this?
Castration, followed by life-long administration of testosterone-killing drugs. And a very long prison sentence.
Poor kid got a terrible dad who no doubt will be an absentee parent. He'll move on to procreate again, and again and again.
@NWlifeOf course he'll be an absentee parent! He'll be in JAIL!!! And I doubt they want him in the child's life! Did you read the article? Your whole comment makes no sense.
I am surprised that the mother didn't notice a change in the girl's behavior. Being raped at that age certainly does change a child emotionally. I am not saying the mother is to blame, but being repeatedly raped would have certainly taken a toll on that child that should have been noticable through behavior. I know for a fact that it does change things in a little girls life. This man should get life without parole, because he sure sentenced her to life.
@Jatok  Maybe the girl thought they were boyfriend and girlfriend. You make it sound like this big bad scary man was raping her at knife point each day in her own home. This went on for over 7 months, and she never told her mom. Think about that. Legally, she cannot consent, but let's get real here.Â
Yes, let's get real here. Perhaps I mistook my father for my boyfriend too. Did I tell my Mom, no. It's something you have to have knowledge of it to understand. With a child that age it is very painful to have this going on trust me. Even more than that a man who would take advantage of a girl that age no matter what the reason is very sick. If you want to stand up for someone like that have at it, but don't think for a minute he will get any sympathy from me.
@lakeview @Jatok --- Who cares if she thought they were boyfriend and girlfriend, he is 21 years old for crying out loud, and she is 11. He is an adult and she is a child, HE should know better. While I don't know the laws in Texas, in Washington it would not matter if she wanted to have sex with a 21 year old OR thought they were boyfriend and girlfriend, he'd still be guilty of statutory rape of a minor! Ugh...disgusting.
@lakeview @Jatok maybe he threatened her, maybe you can't predict what an 11 year old child will do in situation like this. He might as well raped her at knife point each day for seven months. Creatures like this don't even deserve to use up our O2
Disgusting. Absolutely disgusting. To those that think because the mother didn't know she was pregnant--you expect a 10 year old to actually know what that is and tell her mother? How about watching "I didn't know I was pregnant" for a few episodes to get it. If grown women don't know, a child won't eaither.
To those that think she shouldn't have been left home alone--10 is an acceptable age to be left alone for a few hours. You can parent your kids the way you want.
Williams needs to be caught and put in prison along with the general population. That doesn't happen in WA but with any hope there may be a mix up and he ends up there, then dead. He doesn't deserve to live. I hope this child and her family are able to heal. I also hope since she had the baby is either put up for adoption or loved and cared for, not blamed. Â
In a 3rd world nation, this is nothing new. Just a little food for thought...
@Just a dudeÂ
Yeah, well I like to think we are NOT a third world nation.
The fact that the school had to enlighten the mother that her own daughter was pregnant says a lot. You can't leave a pre teen home alone everyday and expect them to raise themselves. Clearly this girl doesn't have a father in her life either. Tragic and easily targeted by the neighborhood scum.
Seems Mom and daughter do not have a close relationship <sarcastic, gross understatement>.
@Mark DuPriest Thats right, blame the parent and daughter. The guys just being a guy right so why should he even go to jail? That's the typical enabler rapist pov. Guess what, most daughters that are close to their moms, still don't tell them about their sex lives.
You read an article about 21 year old man raping an 11 year old daily for 7 months
And your key take away  is the mother/daughter relationship? Â
Yet amidst the sick tragedy of the horrible abuse visited upon this child, a decision was made and a new life was allowed to come into the world.
@acepaul The "decision" you speak of was made by the rapist. If the 11-year-old victim was visibly pregnant, she was more than likely past the point where abortion would have been legal.
I would have more respect for those who believe in forcing women and girls to give birth if they devoted as much zeal to caring for the post-born, i.e. "children"... like the 11-year-old victim in this case.
Hopefully they will put this child up for adoption so that he/she might have a brighter future in a 2 parent home.
@acepaul Where is the thumbs down or dislike button? Unbelievable...
I remember what my own stepfather told me during a family fight (afterwards he had finally left the home): Â "We can never be a family again because you got mad and told on me."
And then I see how this %^$^%$&%^ lays the guilt on that poor girl - makes me rage.
I think in cases involving sexual abuse toward a child, they should tie the person up in the middle of the city and let the pubic punish the person. That poor girl will have to live with that child the rest of her life, a daily reminder of her abuse. I want the sick phsycopath to rot in hell
Put him away or put him down.
he threatened to kill himself? Good. Do the world a favor.
@PikkonÂ
I read that, and thought about the head game he was playing on that poor little girl. Not only did he rape her for months, not only did he get her pregnant, then he topped it off with a "blame game" of telling her he was going to kill himself & it was all her fault.
He does not deserve to breathe the same air as the rest of us.
Luckily Texas seems to put up with less BS in the criminal dept. Hopefully this POS spends the rest of his life behind bars.
I detest people like that man so much that if they were on fire, I wouldn't even bother urinating on them.Â
This little girls life is forever changed and the rapist will more than likely get 5-10 years then get out and rape more little girls. I hope if he ever gets a job or owns anything he is forced to sell it and the money given to this girl. She will be needing help off and on again for the rest of her life as this will play a part in her entire life.
So, if this occurred while the mother was at work, I guess that means an 10 or 11 year old was left unattended after school then, eh?
@Getov Mylon There are no Federal or State laws that say when you can leave your kid alone for a few hours. It is left up to the parent to determine if the child is mature enough to be left alone. I think the child was mature enough, especially if it was in a neighborhood like you suggest, but the neighbor was not.
@Getov Mylon So maybe she should have taken on a 3rd job to pay for a daycare?
@4ShotLatte Maybe people in that situation can make arrangements with relatives or friends to watch the kid after school?  Pretty sure there are after-school programs available. If not, she should contact her Congresswoman, one of the most reasonable and helpful members of Congress. Sheila Jackson-Lee, I believe.
@Getov Mylon @Elaine2 Correction, men WILL lie about anything to get into a woman's bed. Once he get's what he wants, he's done with you and on to the next conquest.
@andyourpointis @Getov Mylon @4ShotLatte One of the best replys I've ever read! Too bad Getov Mylon will never get it, but I do appreciate you saying it. Thanks!
@Elaine2Â
1) We agree.
2) We men don't lie about everything, only the necessary ones that make you think we are doctors or musicians that are in the opening act for "Flock of Seagulls" at the Paramount theater (oops) or professional golfers or neurosurgeons.
3)Newsflash! Women LOVE jerks. Nice guys get squat. You can validate this hypothesis by asking your girlfriends (includes our lesbian friends as well). Ask any woman if one of their ex's is a jerk. Darn near 100% affirmative.
4) Spend time with a man? That's code for stalling (see Fast Times At Ridgemont High, "A girl decides how far she's gonna let you go in the first five minutes.")  because you aren't attracted to him but a man that will pay for margaritas, some chips and salsa are becoming fewer and fewer.  I tell the boys to NEVER get on the "friend list." If she tells you you are a "good friend," smile, remember that test or meeting in the morning and leave. She will never have sex with you.
If she says what a "nice guy" you are, that is code for "I hope this date gets over soon so I can call that hot musician I met at the club last Saturday that gave me his number  and have him ("date") me before he leaves on tour tomorrow."
And I have never had cause to pay one cent of child support. Ever.Â
@Elaine2 @Getov Mylon I think you are both right! I've seen the worthless lying men, and the worthless conniving women as well... I think the advice should be on both sides. First and foremost, get to know the person of your desire before diving into a more intimate relationship.
@Getov Mylon - I have the same 4 point list that you have but it's a little different. 1) make sure HE wears a condom; 2) always assume a man is lying about anything; 3) don't 'date' jerks; and 4) spend time with the man - a long time - before 'dating'.  See, I can read and make up crap too. You sound like a man that pays child support and is pissed off about it.
@andyourpointis @Getov Mylon @4ShotLatte"No one "blames" the mother.  The rapist is to blame."
Many women have the same inability to comprehend the written language.
I thought I noticed a little tinge of guilt about  leaving the kids at home  because of  poor choices in the men that sire the children. Of course, that one chooses poorly is not one's fault.Â
As for the men, I tell them all the time to be extremely diligent in their birth control as follows;
1) Always wear a condom that you yourself provide.
2) Always assume a women is lying about taking birth control or that the doctor says she can't get pregnant. Always ask her anyway. If she says she doesn't use birth control, get up after a suitable time interval remembering you have that business meeting or school in the morning. Do not have sex with her (of any kind).
3) Before having intimate relations, discuss what the woman would do if the birth control fails. If she says she doesn't know or that religion prevents her from having an abortion or taking the morning after pill, politely get up  and leave after a suitable time interval remembering that you have that business meeting or school in the morning. Do not have sex with her (of any kind).
4) Do not ever date (everybody knows that "date" is a euphemism, right?) a woman with children under the age of 18 (just to be safe). We know what happens if they get pregnant and you can also be on the hook for That Annuity for a child that is not yours, should you develop a ... relationship..
Remember kids, the ladies are independent, modern women until it comes to that 18 Year Annuity (i.e., child support, even if the money goes for nails, hair, cellphone and wardrobe). Protect your bank accounts. Be responsible. Use birth control.
@Getov Mylon @4ShotLatte But, but, that implies you believe in the Nanny State where the government should help those trying like hell to make ends meet! You are most certainly not aware of anything to do with child rearing if you don't know that a child can spend a few hours alone at home at age 10. It would be nice if she had someone to keep an eye open for the child, but it was the neighbor who was guilty of the assaults. He and he alone is at fault here. No mother wants to leave their child alone and we live with enough guilt as it is. She does not need your condescending tone, even if she never hears it. The rest of us mother do hear it and say stfu. And, hey, here is a thought- why don't you call out for men to step up and stay with the woman they get pregnant or ensure they have the means to take care of the offspring they create? No? Ya, let's just blame the mom then. Tool.
@Getov Mylon blame the mother or the child seems to be a way of taking the blame off the rapist to me. Shame on anyone who does such a thing!
@Norma J Todd  No one "blames" the mother.  The rapist is to blame. And he should get a life sentence. Or two.
Now, how about you don't leave your kids alone to fend for themselves.
@Northend Growing up in a nice suburb in the 60's, I would agree. Sadly, times have changed.Â
@Getov Mylon I was babysitting infants when I was 10. i was home alone for a few hours too. Really not a big deal.Â
@spacegoddess "No one "blames" the mother.  The rapist is to blame."
Maybe you can have someone read that to you. You seem to have a problem with its meaning.
No, rape can NOT happen any place and at any time. That gets my award for Fatuous Statement of The Day.
Maybe in Fairy Dust Land you can leave your 10 year old alone after school. Probably not a good idea in the rougher parts of Houston.
@Getov Mylon@Norma J Todd "Now, how about you don't leave your kids alone to fend for themselves." That implies blame. It was completely unnecessary to bring up the fact that she was left alone for a couple hours each day (which is totally normal and acceptable for a child her age -- kids need that kind of time and independence as they transition from children to teenagers to adults, regardless of where they live, in order to be healthy adults who don't run to their parents about every problem and let them manage their lives). Rape can happen at any place, at any time, and it is 100% the fault of the rapist and no one else. To imply otherwise, even in a roundabout way (like by suggesting the mother did something wrong by leaving the child alone) takes blame off the rapist, and places blame for a rape on a person who had nothing to do with the crime. That is never okay.
@quidproquo @Getov Mylon @Norma J Todd  The attacks started 7 months ago, quite possible the girl was ten at the time. And if you want to leave your pre-teens alone in certain sections of Houston, you go right ahead.
@Getov Mylon @Norma J Todd 11 is fine to be left on your own. No one should even need to bring it up.Â
