Ill. police say teen held captive 2 years escapes
WASHINGTON PARK, Ill. (AP) - Police in southwestern Illinois say a teenage girl reported missing more than two years ago has escaped from a home where she was held captive.
Police in Washington Park, a village next to East St. Louis, say the girl was raped by her captor, got pregnant and had a baby.
She escaped from the home earlier this week and went to police, saying her child was still in the house.
About two dozen members of a SWAT team swarmed the home Thursday afternoon and recovered the child. A 24-year-old man has been arrested.
Washington Park Police Chief David Clark says it appears the man's mother assisted in the crime.
Police say the girl was listed as a missing or runaway juvenile in April 2010. She was 15 when she disappeared.

Witness protection and quick. The law won't hold this guy for long. And probably won't do anything to the mother. So, there's no safety for this girl or the child. They need to get out of sight before this wacko and his mother get loose!  He's probably going to plead that she wanted to be with them and then changed her mind and is trying to frame him. Somehow these weirdos always twist it around to make the victim seem at fault. You wait, you'll see!
Speedy trial. Death penalty. For this scumbag and his mom.
This is just disgusting. Â

It's too bad the police didn't put a bullet in this guys head and save us all the expense of housing this whack job for the remainder of his natural life.
Â
As for the victim - I hope she gets counseling and a lot of care in the coming years. Â The scars from this nightmare will likely last a lifetime. Â Hopefully she'll be able to recover enough so that she can be a good mother to the baby.
@JoeKing I wouldn't count on this guy even remaining behind bars for the rest of his natural life. Illinois sentencing laws suck, from a victim's standpoint.  My cousin, a university professor, was brutally murdered in East St. Louis, in 1997.  The perp pled guilty, but will be out in a few more years. And while in prison, he's getting an education many on the outside could not afford. Plus three hots and a cot -- which is more security and comfort than he had enjoyed before his arrest. Heck, prison in Illinois was a step up for him.
I don't understand what makes a guy think this is ok, but what really shocks me is his mother knew and helped him. I hope someone just saves the taxpayers some money and saves this girl any more torture by this pair and just kills them.Â
