Pastor Rick Warren cancels presidential forum
WASHINGTON (AP) — Pastor Rick Warren says he's canceled plans for a "civil forum" featuring the presidential candidates because their campaign is so uncivil.
Neither the Obama campaign nor the Romney campaign says their candidate had committed to appearing at the forum at Warren's Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, Calif., near Los Angeles. The forum had been planned for this week.
In an interview published Wednesday by the Orange County Register, Warren said the forum's goal was to promote civility and personal respect between people with major differences. He said that's not been the climate of the presidential campaign and that he doesn't expect that to change.
In 2008, Warren's church sponsored a forum with Obama and Republican John McCain.
Saddleback's website says that about 20,000 people attend its weekend services.

It was about a year ago that this charlatan tweeted some stupid comment about how the poor don't pay taxes and are thus all too happy to raise taxes on the wealthy. Of course, the fact that his institution is tax free and part of the problem never occurs to a dolt like this guy. Nor does it occur to anyone that abjectly stupid yet so full of himself that the poor do pay taxes, maybe not income tax in the lowest brackets but a lot of sales taxes, gas taxes and user fees. This guy should shut his mouth permanently.Â
@kennewickman Here's something you may not know. Rick Warren receives NO compensation - that's NONE - as in ZERO - from his church. He lives on the royalties from his books. Several years ago, he even totaled up ALL - as in EVERYTHING - his church had EVER paid him . . . and paid it all back.Â
Last I heard, book royalties are taxable and Rev. Warren pays a good chunk of taxes.
Brothers and sisters the Lord has said for you to put your tax deductible dolars into the little baskets being handed around.
There is supposed to be a separation of church and state, the tax loophole for churches should end, especially if they are involved in politics.
@rockguy Are you suggesting that all donations to non-profit organizations be taxable?
