Prince Harry got extra security during attack

LONDON (AP) - Britain's defense secretary says Prince Harry got extra protection when the Taliban attacked his base in Afghanistan last Friday.
Philip Hammond says the prince, a helicopter pilot, was moved to a secure position once it was clear that the perimeter of Camp Bastion had been breached.
In an interview with the BBC Monday night, Hammond said: "He is serving there as an ordinary officer but clearly there are additional security arrangements in place that recognize that he could be a target himself specifically as a result of who he is."
Two U.S. Marines were killed and six planes were destroyed. The Taliban said the attack was staged to avenge a film that insulted Islam and because Harry is serving at the base.

Although I think it's great he just wants to serve his country like anyone else, he isn't anyone else and never will be. Â There is a time to realize that you are a Prince and everyone else is not. Â How can you pretend like you are one of the guys when you have all of the benefits that Prince Harry does? Â That base was a hit because he was at that base. Â How does it make him feel knowing he is partly to blame for the loves of two US Marines? Â I am not sure it 's that good of an idea to have him there. Â It seems to just complicate things.
Sorry Ladies he signed up he should get the same amount of security the normal Private E-1 Nothing gets! If it good enough for them it should be good enough for a blue blood!
When his very presence endagers the lives of those around him, time to send him home.Â
An "ordinary officer?" Â I don't think so. Most officers don't get "additional security arrangements." Â Also, most officers (or enlisted) are tested periodically for drugs. It sounds like Harry was in the company of some hookers recently back in the UK who were doing cocaine. I highly doubt he'd be tested for drugs nor be held accountable if they were in his system. Two sets of standards.Â
There is nothing wrong with that. He is serving his country in a combat zone and is risking his life in a combat unit. He will be targeted because of who he is. Hell, Al Gore had a body guard assigned to him when he served in Vietnam since he was the son of a Senator.
@Frank525 As My Former CO once said you put on that uniform you are expendable! As for Al gore he was a desk Jockey a REMF in Viet Nam. he sat behind a desk his whole six months never ever went to the bush!
@wynooheeman At least he didn't hide behind his religion to avoid being drafted into a war that he supported the way Mittens did.
@Frank525 He's getting special treatment while being there. Everyone else is at risk because of him being on that base and being a target. There is something wrong with that.Â
