Deaf school gets Taylor Swift tickets after online prank

BOSTON (AP) - Taylor Swift is giving $10,000 and concert tickets to a Boston school for the deaf after a prank involving an online contest promising an on-campus performance by the Grammy-winning singer.
Horace Mann School for the Deaf in Boston was disqualified from the contest because many of the votes were from Internet pranksters who thought it would be funny for a school for the deaf to win tickets to a live concert.
The Boston Globe reports that instead, Swift and contest sponsors will donate a combined $50,000 to the school, and VH1's Save the Music program will donate $10,000 in musical instruments.
Swift says every student at the school will receive a ticket to her next local concert.
Principal Jeremiah Ford tells the newspaper: "Are we the winner? Absolutely."

It wasn't actually a prank - the school gets $50,000 and why should the school get excluded from that money because they are deaf?
Agh, $10,000 actually, my bad. Â Anyway - it was never actually a prank when the online voting got encouraged.
@quidproquo Technically, both of your comments are accurate; she's kicking in $10K and sponsors are adding an additional $50K.Â
Cool. I wonder if she will use those huge colored lights that respond to music that allow the Deaf to better visualize the music. My brother is Deaf and went to a Deaf School and they would use them at school dances and such. So cool! Thanks, Taylor!
If it was gonna be a concert for the deaf, shouldn't it be more suited for a Justin Bieber concert? At least those guys wouldn't barf from hearing that. I think Biebs knows something about that, doesn't he? ;)
@Zoso Even Deaf people would barf at a Bieber concert and not just because he did, either. :^D
Well I certainly think her music would be much more enjoyable if I were deaf lol, can't stand this twit.
@JFR I looked up dingbat in the dictionary, and there was her picture!
@LNSeveN Then you can go ahead and try to give us a logical reason why she's a dinbat I take it?
@JFR Well then I sure hope you have even more negative thoughts about Kanye West since in comparison, he's the twit, not her.
@JFR Really?  You don't have to like the music, but calling her a twit?  Of the teen music performers of this generation, Taylor Swift is one of the most respected and responsible ones out there.
@Landshark  @JFR Got off the bandwagon after her failed "Rock" performance. I guess auto tune doesn't work for Rock;)
@Landshark @JFR Beyond that, she writes her own music, and has written hits for other celebs too.
excellent response... classy.
@Funky-Munky I agree. Even though they cannot hear the music I think the overall experience will be a lifetime memory for them. And for the pranksters, you'll have your own demons to deal with soon enough. Karma never forgets.
@cm257n7  @Funky-Munky And Rust never Sleeps.
@LNSeveN  @cm257n7  @Funky-Munky There's more to the picture than meets the eye.
